Top 5: How You Support Your Well-Being
Your stories of how you and your teams are prioritizing health and well-being are inspiring! Congratulations to  Maggie Sgier at Ashley Elementary, who won a giveaway sponsored by Employee Wellness.

5.  "I help my sanity in the early morning hours by doing my meal prep on the weekends. Sometimes my kids even cook with me! It's a great bonding time as a family, and my mornings are much smoother when I can just grab my container of lunch and breakfast and go!" -- Kimberly Peters, Skinner Middle School

4.  "Each morning before work I read two poems from Poems-a-Day: 365 Poems for Every Occasion. This delightful collection has both classic and modern poems that give me some relaxing moments before I set out for my day." -- Hilary O'Kelly, CEC Early College

3. "At Force Elementary, there is a group of us that sign up to do races together. Then, we do our training walks and runs together. We have done distances from 5K to half marathons!"  -- Bridgette M. Weiss, Force Elementary

2.  "I leave my laptop and even my work bag at my desk during designated days of the week. I've found that if I leave those things behind, I am more present for my family and friends. And, I'm a much more balanced leader because there's a separation" -- Whitney Weathers, Manual High School

1. "I try to support my own well-being by offering morning meditation to my co-workers. Knowing I need to be there for my staff keeps me dedicated to my own practice. We practice a different type of meditation every day of the week! Mondays are for loving kindness, Tuesdays we do breath work, Wednesdays we observe our thoughts, Thursdays we do a body scan, and Fridays are for moving meditation. I know this practice has already helped my school year start off great!" -- Maggie Sgier, Ashley Elementary

Living Our DPS Honoree
Rivian Bass
Teacher, Teller Elementary
Students First

"This summer, Teller Elementary opened its very own Gifted and Talented Summer Academy. Over the course of six weeks, we served 50 Magnet Eligible, Gifted and Talented, and Highly Gifted and Talented students. Rivian Bass was the foundation of this successful program and lived our Shared Core Value of Students First. She donated many hours of her own time to ensure our program was nothing short of amazing. Our students thrived as they learned about the art of math, competed in a mini-house challenge, embarked on a virtual voyage and shined as entrepreneurs during Mini Society. Teller is lucky to have such a passionate teacher on our team!"

-- Sabrina Bates, Teller Elementary
