New appointment to SIPA Board of Directors

I am pleased to announce that I was appointed to the Statewide Internet Portal Authority. Board of Directors.

The mission of the SIPA is to provide efficient and effective services for citizens through the use of modern business practices and innovative technology solutions. In practice, this means delivering government services through the use of technology, so that the public has better access to state and local government information, products, and services.

SIPA's annual "User Conference" will take place later this month where we will be discussing several subjects that are new to me such as artificial intelligence, chatbot, blockchain, and cryptocurrency. I am excited about this new appointment and I am eager to learn how we can better serve Colorado citizens through examining and implementing future technologies.

Legislative update

I had two bills pass unanimously on third reading this week: HB18-1193 c oncerning the advanced placement incentives pilot program and  HB18-1042 on the creation of a  program to authorize private providers to register commercial vehicles (this was a TLRC bill).

Also this week, Governor Hickenlooper signed into law two of my bills at a signing ceremony: SB18-107 on the repeal of procedures to fill vacancies in candidate nominations for elections conducted under the "Colorado Municipal Code of 1965" and HB18-1018 on education to prevent human trafficking be included in the training to obtain a commercial driver's license.

My bill, HB18-1070 concerning an increase in the amount of marijuana excise tax revenue to the BEST program for school capital construction, passed out out of the House and will head to the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday.
