Message from the CEO
As HISA works towards its goal of enabling Australia to have the world’s best digital health workforce, it has become increasingly apparent that digital health executives need more support and collaboration in their roles and in their professional development. Today we are launching the Digital Health Executive Network - a new collaborative professional development program for executives in all fields of healthcare, health ICT systems and leadership. Planning is underway for a certification program and the first professional development event will be held as part of HIC 2018 in Sydney on 29 July.

While digital health executives are a growing workforce in the health sector, they tell us they can feel isolated and under pressure. We believe one of the keys to its success will be Chatham House Rule forums for executive leaders to share information, collaborate and network. If you are, or know, a digital health executive who would be interested in finding out more, complete the EOI found here.

NSW Branch meets: AGM + Trish Greenhalgh presentation
NSW Branch meets: A lively panel discussion followed the Prof Trish Greenhalgh presentation on project governance and implementing change in healthcare when HISA NSW met last week. The branch had a good discussion with panel members Dr Naren Gunja, CMIO Western Sydney LHD, Angela Dunbar, Project Excellence Manager St Vincent’s Australia, and Paul Wilma General Manager NSW, Cerner Australia. The meeting closed with the AGM and there were no changes to the HISA NSW Committee as it was a non-voting year.

Why you need to be part of HIC 2018

By the Chair of HIC 2018 Dr Robin Mann

Patient care is advancing incredibly quickly with better engagement, better outcomes and new more integrated models of care; increasingly driven by the availability of new technologies, increasing availability of data and advances in ways of using it. The pace of change through this ‘fourth industrial revolution’ is so great that to stay informed you can no longer rely on reading journals or trying to filter through innumerable social media posts. You need to attend at least one major conference a year and here is why I think HIC is the one to attend.
