Message from the CEO
Calling on the community: It’s always very rewarding to go out to our digital health community with a question. Whether we are undertaking a consultation project or a piece of research like the recent cybersecurity survey, our members and stakeholders are generous in sharing their knowledge. The responses we receive provide us with valuable digital health intelligence which continues to help us build capacity for digital health in Australia.

So I’m confident that our call for expressions of interest in the next telehealth and virtual care conference will bring a wave of innovative and inspiring content from our community. HISA’s annual telehealth and virtual care conference ATC 2019 returns to Brisbane next 3-4 April.  You have until Friday 7 December to submit an abstract.

Get together with your colleagues and look at relevant projects, or consider what research and investigation you could share. We want to hear from you!
Dr Louise Schaper
PhD, CHIA, FACHI
Momentum is building around digital health and health informatics in WA. While we await the final outcome of the sustainable health review, and with a digital strategy already commissioned by the Government, HITWA 18 offers unrivalled opportunity for WA's digital health community to come together and join the discussion. How will WA deliver healthcare in the digital age and what does our future healthcare system look like?

HITWA will be held on Friday 9 November, hurry to register here and connect with WA’s digital health community.

When you are at a data conference, it’s the perfect time to update your personal HISA profile!  Vicki Bennett, My Health Record Data Unit Head, from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (right) and Yanping Zhang, Project Manager, for the ACT Government, updated their contact details in the HISA database to win a prize during HDA last week.
Needed: Children’s football/soccer boots and clothing
HISA CEO, Dr Louise Schaper, is heading to Thailand in December to spend some time with a charity that works with children in remote hill tribes of Northern Thailand.

"The kids are mad for soccer / football and have asked if I could take with me as many second-hand kids soccer shoes as I can carry. I’d like to take a suitcase full of them so if you have any spare soccer shoes that you can donate, please let me know. Second-hand clothes would also be welcomed (all sizes and shapes), so any clothes you can spare will also be gratefully received by the kids (age range from 4 to late teens). Most of the 400 children are orphans and they all live in extreme poverty. Borderless Friendship is a fantastic organisation and gives 100% of all donations to the children – not a single dollar is spent on ‘admin’ expenses, as it is run by volunteers. You can find out more at Borderless Friendship.

Thanks. If you have stuff I can take with me, please just email me ceo@hisa.org.au."
