Phase 4 to begin June 26

P.E.I. Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Heather Morrison announced  Phase 4 of the easing of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions  will start June 26.

Includes changes to:
  • Indoor visiting at Long Term Care facilities
  • Organized gatherings of up to 50 people
  • Small festivals and events (up to 50 people)
  • More details to be released
Atlantic Premiers Committed to Opening Regional Borders
Atlantic Canadians should be able to travel within the four provinces sometime in early July, P.E.I. Premier Dennis King said following a meeting of the region's premiers Wednesday evening.

Video Road Tests for Islanders Safe and Convenient
During today’s sitting of the Legislative Assembly, Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Steven Myers informed members that the Highway Safety Division will be piloting the use of 360 dashboard cameras and Bluetooth or radio communication devices to allow for contactless driver testing for Class 5 passenger vehicles.

Islanders are reminded to be extra cautious of potential financial scams especially during the global COVID-19 pandemic. 

Fraudulent financial activity increases during challenging times and is often designed to take advantage of individuals, particularly the vulnerable. Dishonest individuals and organizations will use various sophisticated and opportunistic tactics to exploit people, such as insurance, investment and banking scams, as well as fake schemes pretending to support a good cause.

Hand Sanitizer Recall 

Check your hand sanitizer label. On Saturday, Health Canada issued a recall of six hand sanitizers that are made with industrial-grade ethanol. The chemical can lead to dry skin, irritation and cracking. The brands include Eltraderm, Contract Packaging Distributions, Nature's Own, Sanilabs and Walker Emulsions.

It’s available to all business owners and those supporting Canada’s small businesses. The tool will help you find the relevant programs that your business can apply for and the process to do so. As the financial measures continue to change and expire Deloitte is committed to regularly updating the tool to ensure the most up to date information. Currently there are over 100 programs available to Canadian small businesses.
Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) releases Roadmap to Recovery

This takes a comprehensive look at the challenges facing our economy and identifies 51 specific recommendations governments should adopt to overcome the challenges identified. Canada was prepared to do whatever it took to ensure we made it through this pandemic, and we need to apply the same mindset to repairing our economy. 

Over the coming weeks, CCC will be delving into each of the nine key challenges specifically and examining how businesses are being affected. 

CCC prepared a toolkit with key messaging, social media posts and images to help you amplify these recommendations through your own channels.
