The details of the government funding legislation for the current fiscal year were just released, and MSAP funding was kept level at $107 million instead of being raised to $125 million as agreed to by the House. Most of the limited number of funding increases were related to Perkins and CTE grants, as well as to ESSA Titles I, II, and IV. 

MSA is pleased that we did not have to fight to preserve MSAP funding as we have had to do in the past. Moreover, MSA has succeeded in laying a foundation for significant increases in the future –- based on the House already agreeing to the increase and our success for the first time in having a supportive Senate appropriations letter. There are times where it can take multiple sessions of Congress to achieve sought-after results, and this may likely be one of those instances. MSA is already working on its strategy for the next session.
