Virtual Courses
For Fall, 2020 the APICS New Haven Chapter will be offering only virtual courses. We will be offering CLTD, CPIM Part 1, and CSCP starting in mid-September. Much more information about the courses will be distributed within a week.
If you are interested in a more detailed examination of supply chain manu-facturing activities, but are not interested in a certification program, ASCM/APICS also offer a set of more technical courses, dealing more with the "HOW" of performing a task rather than the "WHEN", "WHY", and WHERE". These courses comprise the Principles of Operations Management.
The complete POM series consists of 5 complete modules, each with 9 3-hour education sessions, plus mid-term and final exams, for a total of 11 weeks.
The individual modules are:
Principles of Inventory Management (PIM)
Principles of Operations Planning (POP)
Principles of Manufacturing Management (PMM)
Principles of Distribution and Logistics (PDL)
Principles of Managing of Operations (PMO)
The nice thing about these modules is that you don't need to take all five of the modules, or even a complete module. The Principles series are in-depth training, and don't result in an ASCM Certificate (although the chapter does give a Certification of Completion at the end). Additionally, pieces of each module may be intermixed to fulfill a particular training objective.
ASCM/APICS have pre-configured 33 combinations of sessions to achieve specific training objectives, ranging from 3 weeks in length (Methods for Improving Warehousing and Logistics Activities) to 12 weeks (Supply Chain Management: End-to-End), with the average being 5 or 6 weeks. Prices vary with class length and material costs.
