An Absolutely Remarkable Thing
by Hank Green (out 9/25)
"Such a fantastic debut novel... It's current and reflective of today's social media while instilling hope for a better future, one that embraces technology rather than condemns it, which I find refreshing." - Mikayla

The Sandman Vol. 1 by Neil Gaiman
"I doubt I need to give Neil Gaiman's The Sandman much introduction, but in case you've neglected picking the series up, there's a new, exciting reason to start. Gaiman is continuing the Sandman universe and the legendary local author Nalo Hopkinson  is writing one of them. The first issue of  The House of Whispers releases September 12th! We have a few copies of The Sandman Universe Issue #1, but please support local comic shops and pick up the next issues from them!" - Destenie

With poetry, letters, artwork, and essays by people of color, We Rise paints our world with the brush of truth and the path to change.

Pre-order Spotlight: Unsheltered by Barbara Kingsolver

Willa and Iano are educated, successful, middle class... so why are they struggling to take care of medical bills, find insurance, figure out how to come up with money to renovate Willa's old New Jersey inheritance that is falling down around them? In desperation, Willa looks to her home's past and discovers people who also faced great uncertaintly and change following the civil war and Charles Darwin's shocking new theories. Both narratives explore what it means to live in a time of great change, to live unsheltered, untethered, fearful, exposed, free. A brilliant portrait of where we are and the possibilities of where we might go. - Linda

In Conversation: Norm Ellstrand & Roger Ransom
Sunday, October 7 at 4 pm

Please join us in welcoming local authors Norm Ellstrand (Sex on the Kitchen Table: The Romance of Plants and Your Food, out 9/22) and Roger Ransom (Gambling on War: Confidence, Fear, and Tragedy of the First World War) for a conversation and Q&A.  Ellstrand and Ransom will also discuss their personal journey of writing works that straddle the line between the popular and the scholarly.

An eye-opening medley of serious science, culinary delights, and humor, Sex on the Kitchen Table offers new insight into fornicating flowers, salacious squash, and what we owe to them. In Gambling on War, Ransom sheds new light on the enduring puzzle that is the First World War by employing insights from prospect theory and notions of risk and uncertainty.
