Our first guest is Vance Cannon, Litchfield County singer and songwriter and. He will entertain us with acoustic guitars "some original, some instrumental fingerstyle, covers of folky types, some blues, six-string, 12-string and tricone resonator guitars." On Zoom. Thursday, September 10 from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. Fall Book Discussion Series: 75 Years of Writing by Blacks, A Sampler. In tune with our times, the fall book discussion group will look into four novels that cover aspects of the Black experience in the United States from the end of WWII to the present. Over this time span, the language to describe our subject has shifted from Negro, to African-American, to the present discussion of black v. Black, white v. White. How much else has changed? Each of these novels has something to say on that subject. This month's book is The Street by Ann Petry. Betty Krasne, Ph.D., a writer and retired professor of literature who lives in Kent, leads the discussions. On Zoom. Please register so the Library will know how many books to round up. Saturday, September 12 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Opening Reception: By the Sea by Kent artist Christine LombardiMeet the Artist in front of the Library in the Chess Court. Enjoy a small private tour of her nautical show. Refreshments will be served, but feel free to dine at the Villager (not provided by the Library) before or after having a refreshment and tour of the Gallery with Christine Lombardi. (Adults must wear face mask or shield). The exhibit runs from September 2 through October 30. Please register. The program is free and open to the public. (raindate: Saturday, September 19).
