Hundreds of students participated in this event and began the day with an Active Voice Project Climate Action Plan exercise, where they created plans to address environmental issues, then debated about the plans and voted on them. The students heard from interdisciplinary south Florida leaders at the forefront of climate action and learned about initiatives their peers have advanced toward environmental stewardship.

CES Remembers One of FAU's Founding Fathers
In 2004, CES took the lead on the creation of the Robert J. Huckshorn Arboretum on FAU's Jupiter Campus. The Arboretum was the vision of one of FAU's founding fathers, Dr. Robert J. Huckshorn. His vision was not a formal, managed garden but a natural area that would meld with the community surrounding the campus by including a variety of native trees and shrubs from several different Florida ecosystems. The Arboretum has become a destination, not just for students, faculty, staff and the community, but also for wildlife, providing habitat for many native birds, butterflies and other species. You can see that the growth of tree canopy and vegetation has increased significantly since 2005:

RSVP is encouraged.
