Global Connections: 60th Issue of IFNA Newsletter

This January 2019 newsletter "Global Connections" marks the 60th issue of the IFNA newsletter created by the IFNA Communications Committee.
 
The first IFNA newsletter was distributed in December 2013. Thanks to members of the IFNA Standing Committees for contributing monthly highlights about committee activities, new initiatives, conferences, and IFNA members around the world who are advancing family nursing and family health.
 
FAMILY NURSING PRACTICE NEWS 
Dr. Barbara Voltelen (Denmark)  recently co-authored a new book about the dialogic meeting between health professionals and families affected by serious illness [Danish language] Familiedialog og refleksion ved alvorlig sygdom.

FAMILY NURSING EDUCATION NEWS 
Pamela Farthing (Canada) is a faculty member at Saskatchewan Polytechnic School of Nursing in the undergraduate nursing degree program. She is currently a PhD candidate in the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan and has a special interest family nursing education. Her research focuses on improving the health experiences and outcomes for adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. [Read more]

FAMILY NURSING RESEARCH NEWS 
Dr. Kathleen Knafl (USA), Frances Hill Fox Distinguished Professor, School of Nursing, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was recently honored with a Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago for her contributions to family research and the knowledge base for supporting families who are facing the challenges of childhood chronic illness. Dr. Natalie McAndrew (USA) is an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing. Her research focuses on the family experience during life-threatening illness and the delivery of family care in intensive care units. She is a member of the IFNA Acute Care Research Cluster.
