SAINTS PETER & PAUL CATHOLIC SCHOOL
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Throughout the year we take pride in highlighting our successful alumni. Most recently we announced that Phil Cabrera '67 will be presented with this year's National Catholic Education Association Distinguished Graduate Award at the all school Catholic Schools Week Mass celebrated on January 31.

One of the staples of the 'e' Blue and Gold is the Alumni Brief features.   We've also had several of our graduates create videos tracing back some of their current success to their education at Saints Peter and Paul School.

You should also check out our Alumni and Friends Facebook page for news about our alums in college.

Over the next several months we will profile members of the Class of 2015 who are currently in their final semester of high school at Benet Academy, Neuqua Valley, Naperville North, St. Francis, and Marmion.

Today we will learn about Nick Hoeppel's experiences at Benet Academy.

College Plans
  • I have applied to Illinois, Butler, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa but have yet to make my final decision. of where I will be attending next fall.
Career Goals
  • I am planning on majoring in Marketing and want to have a positive impact on everyone around me. When I look back on my career some day, I hope to know that I have made the most of my opportunities.

How my Catholic Faith resonates with me today as a teenager:

  • Talking to God is a part of my hourly routine.
  • I make a concerted effort to include others in different activities.
  • It helps me resist peer pressure and follow my conscience.
  • I look for the best qualities in everyone I encounter.
What I learned at SSPP that has helped me in high school:
  • Getting started on assignments well ahead of deadlines.
  • Forming healthy habits both in the classroom and at home.
  • Always welcoming a new friendship.
  • Trying to be a leader.
Teacher at SSPP who had the most influence on me:
  • Mrs. Mahoney, my Lit Plus and Writers Workshop teacher, taught me that working hard will always pay off and that each individual has their own special talents that are valuable to the world.
Best SSPP experience that I cherish:
  • Going on the Timberlee field trip in 7th grade
Advice for current 8th grade students:
  • Always believe in yourself and recognize that everything happens for a reason.
  • Believe that God has a plan for each of us and it will be revealed eventually.
  • Respecting others will get you respect in return.
  • Success takes a lot of work, but there is nothing better than the great feeling you experience after you accomplish something that means a lot to you.
  • High school may seem scary, but the best thing you can do is get involved in as much as possible during your freshman year.

SSPP TRIVIA

When our school was founded in 1853....

....there were no paved roads as the first concrete paved roadway was built in Michigan in 1919.
