Principal's Message
September 14,  2018
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
Open House was a showcase for student achievement and teacher creativity. It was wonderful to see the halls filled with samples of problem solving, artwork, examples of scientific processes, and more. In some classes, there were interactive activities. The robotics demonstrations were impressive. The students were all smiles as they served as tour guides for their parents. For those who were unable to attend, know that you will have a second opportunity to tour the halls during Parent-Teacher Conferences at the end of September. There are many accomplishments to be proud of!
Each Monday, students who celebrate birthdays during the week are recognized and given a gift. This year, students are receiving a blessed Miraculous Medal. Part of the morning meditation has been to hear the story about St. Catherine Laboure' and the history of the Miraculous Medal. The medal was originally called the Medal of the Immaculate Conception. St. Catherine was a humble Sister of Charity who worked with the aged in a hospital setting. Blessed Mother revealed to her a desire to help mankind, especially those in France, in the aftermath of the horrors of the French Revolution. The medal was struck, and before St. Catherine's death, over a billion had been distributed around the world. The strength of the devotion is attributed to the many petitions answered through the prayer: O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. The history of this sacramental is a testimony to the power of prayer.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.
