This is How We Do It:  Instructed Eucharist for All Ages
Wednesday, January 9, 5:30 pm
Cooper Chapel

Why do we do the things we do in worship? Greater understanding can help all of us, young and old alike, participate more fully in worship with enthusiasm and joy. During this special service of Holy Eucharist we will stop at certain points to explain the significance of each part. This service and the explanations given will be appropriate for all ages and children are encouraged to attend. The nursery is also available.
BEing Together: A Sacred Union series
Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 pm, beginning January 15th
Parish Center Rooms 112-113

In this series for couples, you will learn and practice not just a new way of communicating, but also a new way of seeing yourself and your partner. Join us for four weeks of enriching your relationship and building a new sense of confidence in staying connected, meeting difficulty and most importantly fostering communication with one another and God.

Experienced and gifted facilitators Bridgett and Tyler Vadeboncoeur will guide you through small and whole group work. This is a four week series and attendance at all sessions is expected. Ephesians 4:2-3 will be the foundation for this series. Nursery care will be available with  reservation.

Children's Christian Formation Classes  Will Move to Blacker Hall Soon!
Due to a minor unexpected delay, classes will not meet this Sunday, January 6

Due to a minor construction delay,  Children's Formation and Village Small Groups for Parents will not meet this Sunday, January 6th.  The nursery will operate as usual in the existing location (Evans Plaza).   We expect the building to open very soon, so please stay tuned to email and  Facebook  for updates!

Once Blacker Hall opens, all children's classes will be upstairs, and parents will check their children in at the classroom doors.  Several volunteers will be on hand in the hallway to help you find your way.  Room assignments will not change, and rooms will be labeled (Primary Godly Play A and B, Intermediate Godly Play C and D, and Weaving God's Promises for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades).
Curriculum Highlights

Children's Christian Formation meets every Sunday, 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.
Children are welcome to join us at any time during the year, as they are able.
Visitors are always welcome.

Primary Godly Play
Age 3 (before 8/26/2018 fully potty trained) through Kindergarten
BH (Blacker Hall) 216: Primary Godly Play A
BH 215: Primary Godly Play B

January 6:  Children's Classes will not meet

January 13: Epiphany
Before we move on to Jesus' life and teaching, our youngest children will wonder together about the gifts of the magi and the arrival of this king, who would not be like other kings.  In this multi-sensory lesson, we'll burn frankincense and myrrh resin.  The children will learn that myrrh is burned at funerals, and that this gift was for someone whose death is important.

January 20: The Parable of the Good Shepherd
Jesus' parables are full of wonder and mystery -- both obscuring and revealing the nature of God. Decades of practice have revealed that this Godly Play story, in which the Good Shepherd shows his sheep the way, even through places of danger, and will not rest until they are all safely home, is especially powerful for children.

January 27: The Parable of the Great Pearl
The children will wonder together about the merchant who found something so precious, he gladly exchanged all he had for it. What could this great pearl really be?

Intermediate Godly Play
1st and 2nd Grades
BH 205: Intermediate Godly Play C
BH 206: Intermediate Godly Play D

January 6: Children's Classes will not meet

January 13, 20, and 27: The Greatest Parable
Told in three parts, this story for our older Godly Play children presents Jesus' public ministry as a window through which God can be glimpsed passing by. Like a parable, Jesus' life both hides and reveals -- both the divinity and humanity of Jesus, and with grace, the divinity and humanity in our lives as well.

Watch the entire Greatest Parable story here, told by a Godly Play trainer at the Chapel of the Apostles at Sewanee.

Weaving God's Promises

BH 211: Weaving God's Promises - 3rd Grade
BH 213: Weaving God's Promises - 4th Grade
BH 212: Weaving God's Promises - 5th Grade

This Episcopal curriculum is organized in a three year cycle - Weaving Our Faith, Weaving Together the Family of God, and Weaving God's Beloved Community.   Drawing from the best of both Godly Play and Youth Ministry, these in-between years will be rich with learning, holy conversation, prayer, community, fun, and of course, love.

This year is Weaving Our Faith, for children in all three upper elementary grades.  As we experience stories from the Old and New Testaments, the overarching theme is God's love for us and how God stays with us, no matter what, to bring us back to God's divine love.

Children's Classes will not meet on January 6th.

Family Worship: A service of Holy Eucharist for all, led by the church's children
Wednesday, February 27
5:30 pm

In Greek, liturgy means the work of the people; all people, not just adults. All are invited to this special service of Holy Eucharist, given by the children and youth of Christ Church, who will serve their parish in every role: as greeters, ushers, altar guild, bulletin designers, lectors, singers, chalice bearers, and more. You won't want to miss this special opportunity to witness our kids in action as ministers and full members of their church.

Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS)

Moms

MOMS is a supportive group of moms, but not a support group. No judgment (for real!). No pressure. Come as you are. We have book studies, play dates, retreats, MOMS Night Outs, and lots of fun while exploring our faith, praying and ministering to one another. ALL are welcome.  Childcare for Friday morning meetings is available with reservation. Check out the MOMS Facebook group for information about all activities and events, or contact Rebecca Bergson.

I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding  and have the knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ himself,  in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
