Volunteer Spotlight -
Deb Price
Our New Ticket Master
New alto section member Deb Price has graciously volunteered to be the ticket manager for handling ticket distribution to chorus members and the general public.  Thanks to Susan Bushnell (alto) for inviting Deb to sing with us.  Like most of her fellow chorus members, Deb is a long-time choir and chorus singer and enjoys singing all types of music. She also enjoys hiking, learning about Virginia's history, and, lucky for us, volunteering.  Please, take a moment to thank Deb for taking on this important job for the RCS.
If you are interested in learning more about any of the jobs that our volunteers do, please check in with the Friend's Executive Director, Melanie Griffis-Hooper.  Send her an email at admin@rcs.org to learn how you can use your non-vocal talents to help, or catch Melanie at one of our Monday night rehearsals, and thanks!

Singing for the
Music Teachers
On October 27, the Rockbridge Youth Chorale participated in a group choral performance at the Virginia Music Teachers Association Conference in Lynchburg, VA.  From all accounts, it was a very successful performance!  The RYC was invited to perform with the Richmond Women's Chorus for the premier performance of "Are We Listening", composed by Lexington's Martha Burford.   This kids sounded great and looked great in their new attire!  Thanks to our youth artistic director Lacey Lynch for putting this all together and preparing our young singers for this opportunity.
Christmas Is Coming!
At least it is for the RCS and the RYC.  Their holiday concert is just around the corner and the choruses have been busily preparing.  The concert is early this year - Saturday, December 1 - so mark your busy holiday calendar right now.  Our youth choruses have grown to 40 in number this year, and we are especially excited that all our choruses will be together again for this year's Christmas concert.  Get your tickets early.  See a member of the chorus or stop in at one of two downtown Lexington locations to get your tickets - Books and Company or Linens and Ladles.  We are always grateful for the support these two local establishments give us before every concert!
One Fund Thing
On Saturday November 2, some of our major donors got a treat for their generosity to the Friends of the RCS.  Donors who made a contribution of $250 or more in 2018, were on the list of invitees to our annual
Music Among Friends.  Tenor Scott Williamson and RCS music director William McCorkle serenaded our guests with songs by Leonard Bernstein and Gustave Mahler.  The reception afterward was a delicious offering catered by our own mezzo soprano, Chef Anne Sauder.  It was a lovely opportunity for music, food, and socializing with these generous underwriters of our efforts.  Thanks to chorus member Margaret Howard for hosting us again this year.  We hope to see you there next year!  If you missed this opportunity to hear Scott, never fear.  He will be joining the tenor section of the Rockbridge Chamber Singers for their concert on February 3, 2019.
