Updates from Mission Valley ROP's
Careers in Education

Thank you for your continued support as an advisory member for Mission Valley ROP's Careers in Education class. Janay Shepherd and her students wants to stay connected with you and looks forward to upcoming collaborations in the near future.
Special Events

This quarter, students had the opportunity to participate in "special theme" days, in order to learn how to incorporate events like these in their future curriculum. The following special days were enjoyed:
  • Disney Day
  • Super Hero Day
  • Story Time
  • Breakfast Potluck
  • Puppet Show Day
Guest Speakers

Careers in Education students have been fortunate to gain valuable knowledge from three guest speakers this quarter.

Dannah Shreim (former student) spoke about the intolerance she has experienced as being a Muslim child growing up. She is currently majoring in Political Science, and hoping to make a difference in our community.

Serrina Ruelas (former 2nd year student) from Smart Start Preschool, shared with the class that she is still employed at her job site, where she was an intern 4 years ago as a Careers in Education student. She spoke about the challenges and rewards from being an intern to a full time paid employee.

Katie Do, from Smiling Faces spoke about how she opened up her own preschool after being a preschool teacher. She gave advice to the students about getting as much education as they could and how it will benefit them.
