Community Connect Newsletter
Dear Staff/Community/Parents, et.al

The 2018-2019 school year is off to a fine start! We welcome back our students, staff and parents in what we hope will be a successful and meaningful year for all. I sincerely hope you had the finest of summers and are ready to greet the new school year with a renewed passion for success. It has truly been a pleasure to serve as your superintendent and I personally look forward to the beginning of the new school year with a focus and determination to make our schools the best they can possibly be. However, I recognize that it is the hard work of our students and staff in the classroom along with supportive parents and community that truly makes the difference. We strive to maintain the trust of our parents and community by providing our students with the finest of educational opportunities during the 2018-2019 school year and beyond. I am extremely confident that by working together we will do just that.

Our Strategic Plan will remain our focus. Initiatives began a year ago on mental health as part of the providing for the needs of our students. This will continue to be a focal point. We also added a strategy on school safety at our last Strategic Plan Update session and that will be given much attention as we work within our school community and our larger community to make our schools as safe as possible. With that, you should know that our schools received a little over $110,000 from the State of Wisconsin as part of DOJ Safety Grant program. That money will be put to good use to help address the safety issue.

We will not lose our focus on academic achievement, as that is our purpose. The abilities our students acquire and then take with them as they leave our system are what “opens doors” of colleges, universities, technical schools, the military and the workforce. With that, we know that students learn best from teachers who establish effective relationships and parents who stay in tuned to the needs of their students. Young people want to know how much you care before they care how much you know! Please do not lose sight of that important personal connection.

In conclusion, I truly have a goal to make the 2018-2019 school year the best year yet for our students, staff, parents and the entire school community. I thank you for your support and effort as we strive to help our students become the best they can be. Welcome back and have a rewarding and productive school year.

Sincerely,
Dr. James Gottinger
District Administrator
