ONLINE EVENT: Keeping Our Kids Healthy and Safe
I look forward to moderating this Safe DuPage event on Thursday. We will be discussing public safety concerns related to our kids and COVID protocols, executive orders, and more. Great panel that includes District 204’s Mark Riding, District 203’s Paul Leong, Rep. Grant Wehrli, and KidsMatter's Kamala Martinez!
I enjoyed appearing on NBC 5 Chicago last week to discuss marijuana sales in Naperville. I opposed these sales after careful study and discussions with numerous doctors, therapists, police, and former addicts (virtually all of whom oppose the recreational sale of marijuana).
Our Platform: Reducing Real Estate Taxes
While public safety is, and will continue to be, the focus of our campaign, our unsustainable real estate tax burden will also be given significant attention. The real estate tax burden placed on our residents is simply impossible and is driving retirees out of Illinois. These taxes also have a devastating impact on home affordability as real estate taxes drive up the cost to rent either a home or apartment.

To bring these taxes under control, we need to grow our commercial tax base, consolidate government services in an effective manner, and cut unnecessary government “bloat” from our budget. Over the next couple weeks, I will offer a number of ideas as to how we can best go about reducing real estate taxes and offer examples of actions that I have taken on a City Council level to help reduce our residents real estate tax burden.
