Happy New Year!

We are getting ready for our next UTSA Ready Day for High School Juniors and Seniors. Help your students prepare for college by signing them up for this free Saturday event.

Registration is also open for our annual P20 Summit on Parent Engagement coming up on Saturday, March 2nd at the UTSA Downtown Campus. This program is especially for parents. Your children are welcome to join you. Learn about this and more in this monthly newsletter.

TAPPestry Conference is Saturday February 16, 2019
TAPPestry is an annual conference hosted in conjunction with several area school districts and parent organizations.
TAPPestry is comprised of Parents, Teachers, Administrators, and other Professionals working with children with special needs.

The SAN ANTONIO, TX screening of the eighth annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival! At the Mays Family Center at the Witte Museum (3801 Broadway St., San Antonio, TX). Hosted by authors  James Kennedy  (The Order of Odd-Fish) and  Nikki Loftin  (Wish Girl, Nightingale’s Nest). Made possible by partners at Bexar County Digital Library  Bibliotech  and the  Hidalgo Foundation  through the generosity of  H-E-B Texas Grocery . 2:00 pm, reception following. 


The DoSeum Offering Low-Cost Admission to
Low-Income Families

Starting Saturday, families that receive federal food assistance benefits can visit The DoSeum for $3 a person.

The San Antonio kids museum joined the  Museums for All initiative , launched by the Association of Children's Museums and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, to expand access to museums and build lifelong museum-going habits, according to a news release.

Next UTSA Ready Day is Saturday, February 9th for High school Juniors & Seniors

The UTSA READY Program is an early awareness, academic preparation bridging program for high school juniors and seniors (11th and 12th grade students). The FREE Program helps students polish their reading, writing and mathematics skills in preparation for college level course work. The program is free and open to the community. The next session is Saturday, Fenbruary 98, 2019. Career Exploration will be covered. Registration is required.

Making Math Meaningful: How to Help Your Child “Get It"

Do you cringe when your child asks for help on their math homework? Do you look at their assignments and think “I never learned math this way?” This training will take a look at the reason for the shift in mathematics instruction, what it means for your child, and how you can best support your child. It is actually easier than you think. You will leave this training with practical, ready to use applications you can use the very same day!

Trauma Informed Responses

This training will discuss how adults can begin to understand the role of trauma, its effects on children and learning. This training will also discuss effects of how and when adults change their methods of interacting and responding to children that have been impacted by trauma that will build, nurture and foster healthy relationships.

BIBLIOTECH
Bexar County's BiblioTech is the first all-digital public library in the United States. BiblioTech is located in Bexar County, Texas. Since the doors of the first branch opened on September 14th, 2013, BiblioTech has actively worked to bridge literacy and technology gaps in San Antonio and surrounding areas by establishing a community presence at the physical locations as well as an online presence through the digital collections and resources.
Membership to the library is free to all Bexar County residents. Access to the digital collection is available 24/7.

Our Mission
Provide all Bexar County residents technology access to enhance education and literacy, promote reading as recreation, and equip all members of our community with necessary tools to thrive as citizens of the digital age.
