FEATURED STUDENT: OYCP Overall Outstanding Cadet Yesenia Reyes Sanchez
In mid-December, thirteen HSD students were among 139 students statewide to complete the Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program (OYCP). OYCP is Oregon's only accredited statewide alternative high school. It operates similar to a military academy and is guided by structure, discipline, physical fitness, service to community, and academic classroom instruction. Cadets are eligible to earn a high school diploma, GED, or credit recovery during the 22-week residential phase of the program; and post-graduation enter a 12-month mentor-active period where they return to their communities to implement their goals and objectives. Hilhi student Yesenia Reyes Sanchez earned the highest honor of Overall Outstanding Cadet of the Company! Way to go, Yesenia, and congratulations to all of our OYCP graduates.

Bond Update: Century's Enhanced Entry Security

Over winter break, the front entry vestibule at Century High School was renovated as part of safety enhancements that also include security cameras and card access controls. In addition to improving line of sight and monitoring, the redesigned vestibule will steer entry through the main office when doors are locked after the start of the school day. This is just one of the many safety- and security-related projects being implemented throughout the District with bond funding. Read more about all the bond projects at
Hillsboro-Bond.org - 2019 will be the biggest year of the five-year bond!
