Philanthropy Phlog Debuts: Donor Stewardship Tips

The AJAS E-update is pleased to launch the first Philanthrophy "Phlog," designed to offer insight and information on development issues. The phlog will appear quarterly in 2019.
Our first phlog is by Tanya Mazor-Posner, vice president of development with the Jewish Home and Care Center Foundation.
We are always looking for guest phloggers; if you are interested in contributing, contact Joni Lucas at [email protected].

So 2018 is over, you're still feeling the caffeine buzz from the coffee solicitation meetings you've had, all your year-end appeals have been mailed, you e-mailed out scores of e-blasts, posted to social media, booked all the donations and mailed out substantiation receipts. Phew...you can finally relax and glide through January. Think again!

Oklahoma Community Residents Spearheads Environmental Efforts
Zarrow Pointe
(Tulsa, OK)

Reprinted from Tulsa World, Dec. 26, 2018

A news story about a dead whale inspired Rita Shisler, 96, to lead a movement to spread reusable bags among her friends.
Ray Bachlor, 92, has a weekly "think tank" with fellow Zarrow Pointe residents that spurred an idea to add solar panels to covered parking.
Green initiatives to help heal the environment are often associated with young adults.
Bachlor and Shisler, along with the more than 200 residents of Zarrow Pointe, a retirement village in south Tulsa, prove there is no age limit for loving the earth. "It is sort of like throwing out seed on the ground," said Bachlor. "You may not see what grows from the seed. Some of it may not grow for years."

Send Us Your Photos: Instagram

The old adage about a picture being worth a thousand words has never been more true than in the ubiquitous world of social media.
AJAS wants to get the word out about AJAS and visually highlight all the fantastic programs and services our members are doing to care for and honor Jewish elders.

AJAS has joined Instagram and is looking for lively photos from members and business partners that showcase residents, services and programs in our communities. Send as many as you like!

Here's what we need:
  • Photos must be in a jpeg format
  • Include the name and location of the community
  • Attach a brief description about the image
  • A contact name with email/phone number in case of questions.

All submissions may be used for social media and other AJAS marketing/communications materials. Please send photos to Joni Lucas
