We wanted to provide you with an update on the timeline and remaining work for projects taking place on O Avenue.
O Avenue NW Between 16th St and Ellis Blvd
O Avenue will be completed by the end of November. In the next 2 - 3 weeks, the contractor will complete paving and sidewalks, followed by landscaping. O Avenue will remain closed to the general traveling public while sod and landscaping work is completed to expedite this work and for the safety of the workers.
O Avenue NW at Edgewood Road
We anticipate O Avenue being open to right in / right out traffic starting approximately October 23, 2018. This means traffic traveling northbound on Edgewood Road will be able to turn right (east) onto O Avenue. Traffic traveling westbound on O Avenue can turn right (north) onto Edgewood Road. We anticipate the intersection will be fully open in approximately 4 weeks.
The construction taking place at O Avenue and Edgewood Road is associated with a new multi-use trail that was recently paved on the east side of Edgewood Road, between O Avenue and Ellis Road. The closure is to improve traffic signals, and to construct new sidewalk ramps to ensure people have access to the new trail. These sidewalk ramp improvements are a requirement by the Department of Justice; all new ramps must comply with standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
We recognize this corridor has experienced significant road impacts during the course of these projects, and we greatly appreciate your patience during this construction season.
