"7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2: 1."
The Reverend Scott McNeill
As UUs, we integrate a number of lessons, stories, and metaphors based on numbers (the 7 Principles and Purposes, 6 Sources, 5 Smooth Stones, and so on). This Sunday we'll see how all of that adds up and plays a role in our one, singular life.

Fall Religious Education Classes Have Begun!
Parents, if your child is NOT registered, please plan to register  Sunday morning before they enter their classroom. If you are registered, you should have received an email this week - if you did not, please check your spam folders, or if we might have your email address wrong, contact Adrienne Summerlot at   drebloomington@gmail.com.

This Week in Religious Education
Our preschoolers (World of Wonder) and K-2 (Roots and Wings) will be learning a little bit about the Jewish High Holidays as they hear stories of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year, which was this past Monday).  Curiosity Club (3rd+ ) will continue to investigate covenant, focusing on what happens when promises are broken and how we can explore forgiveness. Our Whole Lives (7th-8th grade) is examining values. High School Youth Group will meet in the kitchen to cook a vegan lunch together and do a social justice project. Find out what youth in 9th-12th grades are up to here:  tinyurl.com/UUyouth-sept

For the month of September, we will be singing the children out to their RE classes with Love Will Guide Us, Hymn #131 from Singing the Living Tradition.

Ending U.S. Complicity in the Saudi-led War in Yemen
September 23 at 4:00 pm
The Just Peace Task Force invites you to join us on Sunday, September 23rd at 4 p.m. in the Meeting Room for a talk by Kate Gould, legislative associate for Middle East policy at the Friends Committee on National Legislation. The Saudi-led war in Yemen is the greatest humanitarian catastrophe in the world today. We hope Kate's visit will help build pressure on our Senators to support Senator Chris Murphy's effort to cut off U.S. military involvement. A reception will follow the talk. Childcare is not provided for this event.

Leaking Skylights Removed to Prevent Further Damage
This morning workers removed the skylights from the Commons here at church and installed a new roof over the openings to stop leaking. After it rains a few times this fall, and we make sure there are no further leaks, we will install new wiring and energy efficient ambient lighting and will repair and paint the damaged drywall. We will not be installing new skylights, because the slope of the roof is not steep enough to accommodate non-leaking skylights.
This work has been planned for some time, but we did not know today  was the day until just before the workers arrived! Construction work depends so much on weather conditions, and the sunny day was perfect for roof work.
If you have questions, please speak with Dick Stumpner of our Building Oversight Committee.
