Cocoa & Cram is a special event for students to help you review for the semester one finals week.  Link Crew Leaders will explain what you should expect during finals week, ways to study, some useful tips in reviewing, and more!

We are also serving hot cocoa and snacks beforehand
to make studying more fun!

The 212 Cabinet is hosting the first of a five session
speaker series for students with Peggy Polacek
on mental health and strategies to deal with stress. The first session will take place this Thursday, January 10th during Flex Block in the community room.

Students can sign up on Wednesday, January 9th and attend the speaker series on Thursday, January 10th during Flex Block.
This talk will be held in the community room and is limited to 40 people.

Parent Communication Network is excited to announce its third speaker of the 2018/19 school year: Kevin Harrington, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience in mind-body medicine. Dr. Harrington will be presenting on the following topic:  Managing Stress: Mindfulness Skills for Families . In this workshop, he will discuss building a resilient family, strengthening family relationships, developing skills to manage daily stress, developing healthy routines, and much more.

forums related to student learning. These forum are open to parents, students, and educators. These forums will address differences
that can affect learning, including dyslexia.

If students are looking for a 2nd semester schedule change please keep the following in mind:

We will only make a schedule change for the following reasons:

  • Missing a graduate requirement
  • Failed a full year class first semester
  • To add a Student Prep or Teacher Assistant
  • Level change
  • Filling an open period

Any of the above if space is available

We won’t make a change for the following reasons:

  • Teacher change
  • Re-arrange schedule for any reasons (Ex. friends, lunch, extra-curricular activities, work, student prep)
  • Swapping one elective for another
EHS Mosaic
Join the EHS Parent Mosaic!

The EHS Parent Mosaic is a group of parents who have committed to building relationships cross culturally throughout the EHS parent community. We believe that the more EHS parents know each other, especially those they might not interact with otherwise, the more they understand each other, and the stronger our community will be. We are a team of parents who have become friends. Mosaic parents meet one evening per month throughout the school year. We listen to each other’s stories, we learn together and from each other, and we laugh together. We have found that we have a lot in common! 
And, there is also great food involved!!! In our meetings, we do not focus on politics or current events. We focus on ourselves and our own personal growth. We focus on our kids and our school. We don’t focus on who is right or wrong. We focus on listening and learning from each other’s experience. In addition to our monthly meetings, we volunteer together at school events such as Get Connected Day, Curriculum night, and Finals.      

We meet in the EHS Commons. 
Our remaining meeting dates for the 2018-2019 school year are:

Our story belongs to each of us and is the road map to who we are. Each of our stories is made up of countless experiences, some insignificant and others life changing. By sharing part of our story, we share a piece of ourselves. You are invited on January 30 to welcome in the New Year by sharing a bit about yourself and listening as others do the same at the first annual Edina Story Night. At this event, parents and students will have the opportunity to tell the story of an experience from their lives which was both transformational for them and gave them hope. Come and learn a bit more about some of the students and parents from our EHS community and leave feeling a bit more connected. This event will be hosted by Mosaic. All are welcome to come and listen but if you are reading this and would like to share your story at Story Night, please contact Assistant Principal Mike Pretasky Michael.pretasky@edinaschools.org by January 23
Senior May Term Information
The Senior May Term experience allows students to create and drive
their personal learning outside the walls of Edina High School for the
last six days of school. Students utilize their critical thinking skills to connect
their interest with two of the three areas of content; academic, community service, and/or career. Moreover, all projects will be guided by a leading
question developed to enhance our society.

Every senior has an excellent opportunity to participate by communicating their Senior May Term objectives through a thoughtfully detailed application , which is due February 28th . Additionally, the Senior May Term Committee will review all applicants and email student their status of approved, pending (2nd chance) or denied. Lastly, the Senior May Term Adviser, Nikki Plafcan will assist students in developing their experience, finding a mentor, completing the application, through your Senior May Term presentation, please connect through an email,  nicole.plafcan@edinaschools.org   or by phone 952-848-8326 (internal use only), 952-848-3184 (voicemail).

American Mathematics Competition (AMC)
The American Mathematics Competitions are fun for all students who like math problem solving and enjoy challenging themselves to do the best they can.

Both the AMC 10 and the AMC 12 are 25-question, 75-minute multiple-choice contests. The AMC 12 covers the high school mathematics curriculum, excluding calculus. The AMC 10 covers subject matter normally associated with grades 9 and 10. To challenge students at all grade levels and with varying mathematical skills, the problems range from fairly easy to extremely difficult. Approximately 12 questions are common to both contests.

Typically, students who score in the top 5% on the AMC 12 or the top 2.5% on the AMC 10 are invited to take the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME).

Students may not use calculators on the contests.

Competition dates are:
AMC-A: Thursday February 7
&
AMC-B: Wednesday February 13
