Dear Northland Families,

PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR SCHOOL HEALTHY!

We can all work together to keep our school healthy and reduce the number of days staff and students are out because of sickness. Teachers, students and parents can take steps that can help prevent the spread of germs. These include:
  • Wash hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Stay away from people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Keep surfaces like bedside tables, surfaces in the bathroom, and kitchen counters clean by wiping them down with a household disinfectant.
Even with good prevention measures, kids get sick, so:

Consider keeping your child at home if he or she has any of the following symptoms:
  • Very stuffy or runny nose and/or a cough
  • Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep)
  • Headache
  • Mild stomach ache
Definitely keep your child at home if he or she has any of these symptoms:
  • Fever (greater than 100 degrees by mouth)
  • Vomiting (even once)
  • Diarrhea
  • Chills
  • General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
  • Frequent congested (wet) or croupy cough
  • Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing of nose.
Your child can come back to school after his or her temperature is normal for 24 hours without medication.

Thank you for helping make this school year as healthy as possible.
