8:00, 9:30, & 11:00 am Services
One of the best parts of the Gospel is seeing the inner workings of Jesus with the disciples. They are, at once, a family and also the beginning of God's people living out a new kind of life together, the church. What is striking about this passage is the type of request James and John bring to Jesus because it is so honest. There is no editing here. They just put out there what they really want. In the ensuing discussion, we are invited into the family to see how they work out what could have been a split in the group.
This
Sunday, we will have over 40 men gone to retreat. Let's be in prayer
for them as they go to meet with the Lord and spend time together. I hope to see you in worship!

This week in worship
This Sunday we will worship with some familiar tunes about Jesus welcoming all people to his feet; those weary from the road and thirsty for his love, for His yoke is easy and his burden light.
We will finish our time of prayer with Sweet Hour of Prayer, a hymn with an older tune, yet timeless lyrics (read the last verse here; very powerful stuff). In response to Colleen's words about James and John, we will sing When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. Typically sung at our service of Tenebrae (the Friday before Easter, when we remember Jesus' crucifixion), this hymn evokes humility on our part, and is a reminder that Christ's sacrifice is far greater than anything we could offer.
I will be worshiping God with many of the men in Ojai, and will be teaching them a powerful new song called Build My Life. We will bring it home and teach it you in Sundays to come.
- Jake
