Removing 8 Tons of Trash a Day to Keep the Fashion District Clean
The BID Clean Team is currently collecting nearly eight (8) tons of trash from Fashion District streets
each day. That's 16,000 lbs! Or 160 pounds per block. This is in addition to the clean-ups the Department of Sanitation has been doing in the area, including the clean-up of an encampment at 16th and Santee streets and the removal of illegal dumping from the freeway underpass at Wall and 16th streets.
In addition to trash, the Clean Team has been busy removing hundreds of unsightly graffiti tags from Fashion District properties. Just take a look at these before and afters of the alley between Main and Spring streets from 7th to 8th.
BID staff works directly with the City of Los Angeles and Council District 14 to bring additional City services, like those provided by the Sanitation Department, to the Fashion District. We encourage everyone to help us keep our neighborhood clean by reporting illegal dumping and graffiti issues to our office 213-741-2661 or directly to the City of Los Angeles using the 311 app.
