Ministerial Education Forums are a series of workshops designed to impact your ministry in the moment!
Please register via link by the Monday prior to each event so that handouts and snacks can be prepared.)
Confidentiality and Mandatory Reporting (for Clergy ONLY)
Join us as Heather Kimmel, General Counsel for the United Church of Christ explores Confidentiality and Mandatory Reporting.
- Do you know what information clergy may be required to share that has been obtained in carrying out ministerial responsibilities?
- Do you know the difference between a secret, a confidence, and a privileged communication?
All this and more will be covered in a presentation by Heather E. Kimmel, General Counsel for the United Church of Christ.
Self- Differentiation in your Ministry (for Clergy ONLY)
Join us as Scott Watts, Facilitator of Care to Clergy and Clergy Families presents on self-differentiation in your ministry. John Wisdom in his book Paradox and Discovery, recounts the story of a Dublin zookeeper who had a record of amazing success at the difficult task of breeding lions. When asked about the secret of his success, the keeper replied, "Understanding lions." When further asked what consisted in understanding lions, he replied, "Every lion is different."
Without overstraining the simile, we can say that in some ways ministry is similar. We can gain through experience an understanding of and appreciation for the church and yet attain a very rich appreciation for the individual differences of each congregation and each parishioner. The workshop will focus on the process of self-differentiation as a formative process instrumental in an effective ministry that builds on accumulated experience and knowledge, while honoring the uniqueness of every congregation, parishioner, and pastor. For pastors, this includes developing ways to avoid reactivity and respond to known emotional and relational triggers that are often related to personal wounds with compassion for one's self and others.
MissionInsite (for Lay and Clergy)
Join us as X. Peter Wernett, Sr. Vice President, MissionInsite explains MissionInsite. MissionInsite offers incredible insights into the demographics that surrounds your church setting. Come out to learn how this tool can enhance and inform your mission planning as well as your development strategies and budget planning. MissionInsite uses robust demographic data sets and advanced analytics to deliver reports to drive your congregation in future ministry.

Boundary Training
|
"The boundary lines for me have fallen in pleasant places" writes the psalmist. As professional Christian ministers, we have tremendous freedom to roam within those bounds spreading God's love and teaching disciples of Christ. Advanced boundary training in the Penn Central conference is an invitation 2 conversation about how we live and breathe and express our being, and our vocation, in safe, sacred and healthy ways.
Retired Boundary Awareness
Healthy Practices in the Third-Third is for retired and near retirement clergy. We will explore topics around vocation and identity as well as look at some of the logistics of leaving well and in some cases becoming a member instead of the pastor. With much of the expertise already in the room, we anticipate lively discussion of life in real-world retirement and how we navigate the blessings and challenges of this time in our lives. Cost is $10
Lay Boundary Awareness
Healthy Boundaries, Healthy Churches is designed for Lay Leaders (and their pastor). Here we explore some case studies, consensus building, communication, covenant, pastoral expectations, and boundary violations. $15 for individuals, $12 for church groups of 3 or more. Pastors are free with paying church member. Cost includes lunch.
Advanced Boundary Awareness
This session will look at relational skills, self-awareness and differentiation as well as engagement with Safe Conduct Workbench resources and how these boundaries can enrich and inform ministry. Cost is $10.
Register via the link at least 1 week prior to the event. Registration fees can be sent to the Conference Office.
