Arlington Police Welcomes New Officers
On Monday, the City swore in five new officers joining the Arlington Police Department. The addition of these officers, who are all backfilling vacancies in the department, is a testament to the commitment of the Arlington City Council and Mayor to fully staff public safety in our community.
The five individuals joining the department are all experienced police officers with over 50 years of law enforcement experience between them. We are fortunate to have them join the APD team. We hope you will take the time to welcome Officers Sharp, Bartlett, Urton, Ellis, and Knight to Arlington if you meet them on the street.
City Attorney Steve Peiffle administers the oath of office to Arlington Police Officers Shane Sharp, Dustin Bartlett, Rhonda Urton, Mike Ellis, and Mike Knight.

Cocoon House Presents: "Who Am I? Your Teens' Quest for Identity" at Arlington Library
Parents & educators: Join us for a presentation from the mental health experts at Cocoon House. This program will go over normal teen development and help adults better navigate their teens' behaviors.
Date: October 24, 2018
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave.
In "Who Am I?" parents learn the inside scoop on the most baffling of creatures: Teens. Through the lens of developmental psychology, parents become experts at decoding the often bewildering and inconsistent behavior of their own teen. By understanding what "normal teen behavior" is and is not, parents gain the perspective necessary to keep their sanity in the midst of their teen's inevitable ups and downs. When parents take the time to learn why teens behave the way they do, and how that behavior affects the parent, their anxiety around parenting their teen will decrease dramatically. This event is intended for an adult audience.
