Welcome to the Stookey's Club Moderne June Newsletter!

For June, and to celebrate Pride month (June in San Francisco) we bring back the Whisky Smash .... in flying colors! This delicious Summer classic features muddled stonefruits (apricots, cherries, plums peaches or nectarines), bourbon, lemon juice and curaçao, and is served in a tall glass with a mint! Swing on in and give it a whirl!
Meanwhile, we are proud to be able to continue to bring the sounds of the mid-century to Stookey's during Jazz Thursdays at Stookey's !

In our "What's on Tap" section of this newsletter, we list upcoming music and events this month and beyond!

We will close "Here's How" with our Cocktail of Month ! Thanks for your continued patronage -- we look forward to seeing you at Stookey's very soon!

What's On Tap!

The Alcatraz Islanders

It's great to welcome back to Jazz Thursdays at Stookey's The Alcatraz Islanders! Bringing a vintage-style of Hawaiian music from the 1930s-40s The Islanders are coming to the Club Moderne the coming Thursday! Mikiya Matsuda will be leading the group playing pedal-steel guitar.

Come out and hear them play every second Thursday of the month!

June 14, 7:30-10:00pm, No Cover
Doug Woods Spins 78s - Sundays

Our good friend, Doug Woods, brings his 78 records and spins them on our in-house Victrola every Sunday!

Sundays, 7:00pm - until he decides its time to go (usually around 11ish)

It's a great chance to hear the music as it was played in the 1930s and 40's and catch him in the act of changing needles and winding the player. Don't forget to add a contribution to his tip jar !
San Francisco Bitcoin Meetup and Happy Hour at the Club Moderne

We are still the only bar in San Francisco that accepts bitcoin as payment for drinks, and now we are now taking Etherium and Litecoin! We are pleased to be the regular host for a special monthly Happy Hour for the San Francisco Bitcoin Meetup Group! It's on every third Wednesday of the Month

BTW -- Now, all drinks paid for with Bitcoin, Etherium or Litecoin are entitled to happy hour pricing during the event! That works out to $2 off cocktails and spirits and $1 off beer and wine....

Fredrick Hodges - Pianist

It's with great pride that we bring back to Jazz Thursdays our great friend Pianist Fredrick Hodges! As many of you know, Fredrick is one of San Francisco Bay Area's musical virtuosos and is known nationwide for his skillful playing and knowledge of the music of George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, et.al. of the early 20th century! Bring your musical requests from the era; he probably knows it! No Cover.

Nick Rossi and His Swing Four

Nick Rossi and His Swing Four will be back for their regular gig for Jazz Thursdays At Stookey's ! Always a great time: Nick graces us with his licks on the last Thursday every month! Swing on in to the Club Moderne and enjoy the Swing Four's take on the jazz classics from the   1930s. No Cover.

Cocktail of the Month
The Sable
1.5 oz. Reposado Tequila
0.5 oz. Port Wine
0.5 oz. Espresso Liqueur
0.5 oz. Lime Juice


Measure and add ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add ice. Shake vigorously 20 seconds. Double strain (using cocktail "hawthorne" strainer plus a tea strainer) into coupe glass.

Garnish cocktail with a lime wedge.
