October Promotion

A number of our cats and kittens with orange or black fur have been adopted so far in October.   Adult cats under 10 with orange or black fur may be adopted for $75, $130 for adult pairs of those colors, and $35 for seniors of orange or black.  There's no reason to be scared of adopting a cat-they love to give and receive attention, and can be very sociable!

Please visit our Facebook page for more information.
Visit our website to view all our cats available for adoption.

Note: our standard adoption  screening process applies to this promotion. Further, for cats age ten and older and cats with chronic medical problems we offer our Perpet-U-Care Program which provides
$250 of veterinary care services at the CCS Cat Clinic annually.
Kitten Palooza
Sunday, October 21
Our lively and cuddly band of kittens awaits you at our next Kitten Palooza to be held Sunday, October 21, from 4PM to 6PM.  These little ones love to play or just curl quietly up in your lap.  Donations are appreciated.  Children are welcome!   Please RSVP to Suellen Scott at [email protected] or call 303-239-9680 x 19.

Shelter News
We have had a number of Kuranda beds donated to the shelter and the cats love them.  Thank you so much to our contributors!

We've welcomed three new people to our Adoption staff -  Jet, Lore, and Chastity.  We're excited to have them join us in our mission to find forever homes for our cats.  Please meet them when you visit!

Our Temporary Care Program is thriving!  A young family moved into new housing and was then able to bring their beloved family of three cats home.  Three other temporary care cats went back home to their loved ones.  We were caring for these cats while their families were in transition so that they could eventually be reunited.  Please click here to learn more about this program.

We have some beautiful and unique cats in the shelter right now - Lilac, a lilac point Siamese, JJ, a big black and white friendly polydactyl fellow, and Moto, a beautiful silver tabby.

Santa Paws Festival
December 1st and 2nd
Save the date for one of our biggest events-the annual Santa Paws Festival on December 1st and 2nd!  As in the past, we will feature our Holiday Market, Bake Sale, and Silent Auction of baskets.

We are still looking for crafters to donate their creations to our Holiday Market.  Popular Items are anything cat themed, Christmas ornaments, and holiday decorations.

We are also seeking bakers to bake for the cats!   Our holiday Bake Sale is our most popular feature and we need lots of tasty goodies to stock it.  If you are a baker, please consider creating your specialties
for the event.    Even one plate of cookies helps!   Please contact Amy Martin for more information and to sign up. Click Here to email Amy or call 303.239.9680 x 34

You may now bring clean, gently used or new cat themed or unique items (no appliances, please) to donate to this holiday festival.  Be sure to label any donations you bring in for Santa Paws.  If you have questions, please contact Amy Martin at [email protected] or call 303-239-9680 x 34.

Seminar
Care of Senior Cats
Saturday, October 27

Presenter:  Kerry Muhovich, DVM

Some of our readers are caring for older cats now, and most of us will at some time.  When well cared for, felines can live for a very long time.  Dr. Muhovich will discuss how to care for cats as they age, including how to assess possible pain and how to determine treatment for it.  She will offer suggestions on helping your cat feel younger, and also discuss topics related to end of life care.

Saturday October 27, 2018
Time:  10:30AM to noon - lower level of the shelter

The seminar is complimentary, but space is limited. RSVP to reserve your spot.  Please call 303-239-9680 x1 or email Front Desk at [email protected]

Opt to Adopt Lorelai

Lorelai is a very small and sweet girl with a large Tortie personality. She came to us after she was found attacking dogs in the park. She likes it when people move slowly around her and enjoys being petted. She should be the only pet in the household as she doesn't like to share her humans.

You can read more about Lorelai on her Adopt-a-Pet page:

Foster Parent Opportunities

If you have been thinking about volunteering, and want a fulfilling opportunity which will help the shelter, please consider being a foster parent.  Foster parents give cats and kittens a loving home and care until they can be adopted.  The kitties might be kittens needing more time to grow, or cats in need of more socialization or special attention.  Please click here to learn more about being a foster parent.

With year-end coming, it might be time to think about donating that old vehicle  you don't really need anymore.  It's a great way to help our cats!
There's a chill in the air, and it's time to think about holiday cooking and baking.  Please consider buying a King Soopers Gift Card for your shopping excursions.  You always have the full amount of funds loaded on the card available for your purchases, and the shelter cats benefit each time!  Click here to learn more.
