New drop box for unused meds at Parkway clinic location
We're excited to announce that our Parkway clinic houses a new drop box for unused medicine with the support of Aurora and The Fund for Lake Michigan. The drop box will be located right outside the Aurora pharmacy windows in the Parkway lobby. This is the first drop box in the state of Wisconsin to be embedded within a clinic setting, so we're excited to be the first that hopefully paves the way for other clinics.
Drop boxes make it easy and convenient for people to dispose of their unused prescription medicines, preventing those medicines from getting into the wrong hands. It also keeps unused meds out of Lake Michigan and out of our drinking water. We are happy to be working with Take Back My Meds and Aurora to help make this happen and continue to fight the opioid crisis in every way that we can.
Sixteenth Street awarded HRSA funding to address opioid crisis

Sixteenth Street received $285,500 in funding to address the opioid crisis through the Health and Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) 2018 Expanding Access to Quality Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Services (SUDE-MD) Award. This important funding will increase Sixteenth Street's capacity to screen and serve more individuals struggling with substance abuse, connecting them to our integrated Medication Assisted Treatment and Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) programming. In our unique primary care setting, medical, behavioral health and AODA providers are able to collaborate seamlessly to provide individualized full-circle care.

My Sixteenth Street Story | Miguel
"Learn how Miguel and his family were able to change their way of life for the better."

When I came to Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers my life was very different. I had diabetes. I lost my eyesight. And I had gotten to a weight I knew wasn't healthy. My day to day made it easy for me to be unhealthy - to just eat tacos, or large tortas - street food. I decided then I was going to take hold of any opportunity that presented itself to be healthier. So, when my doctor told me about Healthy Choices, and I knew I had to try. I was willing to do anything... CONTINUE READING
