Parking Lot Resurfacing
Reminder!
Parents,
The
parking
lots of both the church and the school are being resurfaced on
Wednesday and Thursday, September 12 & 13
.
There will be NO entrance to either parking lot those 2 days.
Students will be unable to ride bicycles to school
Wednesday, Sept. 12 and Thursday, Sept. 13.
Students may enter the building through the main doors on Waiola.
Alternatively, students may be dropped off in coned area in front of the Rectory, where they can walk up the sidewalk along the south side of the Rectory.
We will open the doors early at 7:50am to allow for the number of students to enter.
Safety of our students is our first priority. please be patient, as traffic will be heavier than usual. Walking is advised.
Staff will need to
park on the surrounding streets, therefore we ask that no parents
park their cars. We will need to keep the traffic moving so that all students can come down Waiola Ave and enter the main doors.
Please contact the school office with any questions.
Thank you!!

Virtue of the Month
for September is
Trusting in God's loving plan.
St. Joseph
Preschool - 2nd Grade Saint
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton
3rd Grade - 5th Grade Saint
Sts. Louis & Zelie Martin
6th Grade - 8th Grade Saint
SFX is continuing the "Virtue of the Month" Program this school year. Each month we will be stressing one of the human virtues - the good habits and qualities that imitate the life of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the saints.
The practice of virtues leads us to live a sincere faith-filled life. Our very own homes and the daily events of family life are the natural setting for nurturing and training in the development of these virtues, as we want our children to grow up to be happy, mature, and successful Christian men and women who can make good choices that reflect their faith.

Tyler's Toy Drive
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21ST, 2018 4:00-5:30PM
SFX PARKING LOT (In case of rain Joyce Hall)
Fire truck, face painting, candy walk, and games! Girl Scout Bake Sale (please bring cash) Bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift to put a smile on children's faces!
All donated toys will be given to the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. Their mission is to provide comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children fighting cancer by distributing toys from 'treasure chests.' Toys in all shapes, sizes, and varieties are welcome. (But, please, no stuffed animals.)
Can't make it? Drop your toy at the Rectory by September 21ST Questions? Catholic Women's Club, Joellen Sorenson: [email protected]
When SFX parishioner Tyler Duelm was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006 at the age of 3, the SFX community responded with prayers and support for Tyler, his parents, Laura and Brent, and his siblings, Jessica and Jonathan.
After a courageous, 8-month battle, Tyler succumbed to this terrible disease. To support children impacted by cancer, the SFX Catholic Women's Club hosted a parish-wide party and toy drive in honor of Tyler's birthday. Now in its 12th year, the tradition of a community birthday party in September continues in Tyler's memory. Toys for Tyler is a great opportunity for young ones in our parish to embrace the spirit of giving while also enjoying a fun afternoon of playground games and entertainment.

VOLUNTEER'S MANDATORY COMPLIANCE FOR THE "PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN" PROGRAM
All Catholic Dioceses and Archdioceses have instituted programs whereby they are taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of our children. A very important part of these programs involves doing criminal background checks on all employees and individuals who come in direct contact with our children. All volunteers at St. Francis Xavier are in this category.
We encourage all parents to give serious consideration to completing this program, since only adults who have completed the required components may volunteer in the day school, school of religious education or parish in any way with our children.
The Office for the Protection of Children & Youth has streamlined the registration process and submission of background check for volunteers. Now all parent volunteers (who have not already completed the program)are asked to visit:
http://www.virtusonline.org
where you will register for a Virtus session called Protecting God's Children for Adults. When you do, volunteers will also be asked to submit their background check in the Virtus System that will include these required documents:
Download the DCFS/CANTS form and the Code of Conduct form.
Complete and sign each form and send to Mrs. Peggy Evans at the Main Campus Office. Your registration in the Virtus site will provide information for a background check which you will authorize on the last page.
Thank you for volunteering your time and talents to St. Francis Xavier School. If you'd like to check your level of completion, please contact Mrs. Evans at either 352-2175 or
[email protected].
