Parents-
In the newsletter today, you will find some important information regarding this year’s Catholic United Financial raffle! This is our second largest fundraiser after the auction in December and last year we raised $22,000! As you'll recall from last year, students are given raffle tickets to sell for $5. Presentation School retains 100% of the ticket sale price and all prizes are donated by Catholic United Financial! The list of prizes is too long to list here but includes $20,000, $5,000 dream vacation, 2019 Chevy Trax, concert/event/athletic tickets, getaways, gift cards, and more! The top seller from Presentation will win an Amazon Echo Dot and the top classroom will receive a pizza party! Our theme this year is The MOVIES; Presentation School, Where Students Become Stars ! If we reach our school goal of $20,000, I will complete a SUPER SIZED Principal’s challenge that the students will choose, and we will have a party just like the Oscars! We have a building full of amazing students and I know they will SHINE like the stars they are as they reach their goal! Also, IF we surpass our goal and reach $25,000 the students will be awarded a day off school!

Full details will be provided to students and families in future communication envelopes and at our upcoming kickoff rally. Please be sure to keep an eye out for the upcoming sign up genius for available times to sell tickets after our masses as well as neighboring churches that have opened up their doors to us! Thank you in advance for your support!

Finally, if you know of any families who are seeking an excellent Catholic education, please take the time to let them know about our school. Invite them to attend our Kindergarten Info Night on the 16 th OR the Open House on the 27 th . You can also have them contact me so that I can arrange to give them a tour and show them what makes our school so special. Be sure to read about our new referral program for 2019!
Wishing you peace and happiness in the New Year!

A Letter From 6th Grade
Dear Presentation Families,

As you may know, Ms. Way, our lovely middle school math teacher, has been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. So we sixth graders, Audrey, Nichole, and William (with help from Mrs. Giel) have designed a t-shirt that we are selling for $15 each to raise funds for her. We will use the proceeds to help pay for her treatment, as well as buy Ms. Way and her family t-shirts of their own. Thank you for your generosity.

Sincerely,
Audrey, Nichole, and William

Need Help Paying Your Tuition?

Join other Presentation families and become part of the Pioneer Foundation for the Preforming Arts.  It is an organization independent of Hill-Murray School. It provides programs for volunteers seeking additional opportunities for tuition assistance grants. These grants help to pay tuition at Presentation. So you “volunteer” your time, and they send a check to Presentation for your child’s tuition. This organization has been helping to provide significant funds for families who wish to volunteer their time and talents. It’s easy to learn how your family can take advantage of these programs. Many of our Presentation families pay their child’s entire tuition by “volunteering” at these events. Want more information?

Basketball

The Presentation Boy’s 4th-6th grade basketball team is a young team having to play against predominantly 6th graders. They have played 2 games so far. The first was against the top team in their league—St. Pat’s of Hudson. It was a tough loss. The 2nd game was against a more evenly matched opponent in Transfiguration. It still resulted in a loss, but it was close—14-19. It was a good game and the kids worked hard and played great defense. The kids are enjoying their season so far and look to have fun at practices and games. They are still working hard on their offensive and defensive plays.

The team has a BYE on 1/7, but will face off against Immaculate Conception at Presentation on 1/14.

The Swim Team

The Pre-Season Swim Team meeting is this Friday, 1/4 at 7:00pm at Transfiguration. At least one parent should be attending with their swimmer. Practices begin this Sunday.

Presentation’s portion of the swim team has almost doubled since last year. As of right now, we have 31 swimmers who have expressed interest in the swim team this year. We are welcoming 4 younger siblings of existing families and 9 new families. We have a lot of younger swimmers joining this year and are very excited about it!

Please ensure that registration forms are turned into the office by Friday, 1/4 for those who haven’t already turned them in.
Looking Ahead
Our Mission: The purpose of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary School is to provide a Catholic community that fosters the religious and academic development of the individual student in a safe and welcoming learning environment.
Our Philosophy: Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary School creates a supportive Catholic community committed to the Gospel message that calls us to faith, service, and worship. An environment of respect, peace and justice fosters an appreciation of God’s gift of life in all people. Each student is empowered to develop their own potential, which will lead to excellence in academics, athletic activities and the fine arts.
