NEWS & EVENTS
Fall Open House 

Members of the community are invited to attend RVCC's Fall Open House, October 13, 10 a.m.-noon. The event, designed for high school students and adults who are interested in pursuing a college degree or certificate, will be held in the Conference Center at RVCC's Branchburg campus.
 
During the event, participants are invited to tour the campus, meet faculty and current students, and learn about:
  • How to become an RVCC student
  • Students clubs, organizations and athletic teams
  • Services to help you make a successful transition to college
  • Programs designed to help you transfer to top colleges and universities in NJ, across the country, and even in Europe
  • Career training programs, designed in partnership with local industry, that can be completed in a year or less
  • Paying for college, including financial aid opportunities

September Information Sessions, Campus Tours

Learn about all RVCC has to offer by attending an Information Session in September. The College is offering General Information Sessions as well as special sessions for adults and those interested in its Cosmetology and Esthetics (Skin Care) career programs.

Community Day, Music Festival Part of RVCC's 50th Anniversary Celebration

As part of the yearlong celebration marking RVCC's 50th Anniversary, the public is invited to a Community Day, September 22, 2-6 p.m., at the College's Branchburg campus. Hosted by the Planetarium, RVCCArts and the Workforce Development department, the day will include a music festival, laser shows, and an art exhibition.

50 Years of Creating Opportunities, Transforming Lives

Celeste Onka wasn't interested in attending a four-year college after graduating from Somerville High School in 1968. But then she heard about a two-year college being launched right in her neighborhood: Somerset County College. So Onka became the first student admitted to SCC, which began classes for 229 students in September 1968 at Green Brook High School.

RVCC Graduate Receives Paralegal Studies Award

Laurie Winans of Hampton, a 2018 graduate, is the recipient of the Baker & Rannells Paralegal Studies Student Graduate Award. Established by Baker & Rannells, PA, the award honors an RVCC student graduating with an Associate of Applied Science degree or a Certificate in Paralegal Studies who has demonstrated not only academic excellence, but also a commitment to service combined with an ethic of justice, fairness and integrity.

High School Learning Through Experience Program

Members of the community are invited to attend the Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies' High School Learning Through Experience program, October 16, 9 am.-12:30 p.m., in RVCC's Nash Theatre. The program will focus on the 25th Commemoration of the Rwandan Genocide. Speakers will include Daniel Trust, a Rwandan child survivor; Carl Wilkens, former head of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency International in Rwanda, who continues to assist survivors in Rwanda; and Margit Feldman, a Holocaust child survivor from Hungary.

For the fourth year in a row, RVCC has been lauded for its campus sustainability efforts by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. The College has been recognized as a top performer in the 2018 Sustainable Campus Index, ranking seventh in the country in the "Associate Colleges" category.

Bachelor's Degree Classes at RVCC's Campus

Our University Center enables students to start their college education at RVCC, and then pursue their Bachelor's Degree at the College's campus. RVCC has partnered with leading colleges and universities in New Jersey to offer advanced level college classes at our Branchburg campus. Learn more about the University Center programs offered by Rutgers University at an information session, September 27, 1-2:15 p.m., in RVCC's Conference Center (Room 101).   Rutgers offers programs in such areas as Criminal Justice, Labor & Employment Relations, Liberal Studies, and Political Science

September Shows and Concerts

The RVCC Planetarium's September programs include a Led Zeppelin laser concert and a show that explains the mysteries of space.
