Epiphany

Have you ever considered what it was that made the wise men leave their homes to go and seek the newborn king? They were looking to the eastern sky and saw a star come up. This became a sign to them that a king had entered the world. Clearly, the Holy Spirit was at work...God was showing these men of learning and means that this was an opportunity  for them to come and see His Son. Yet, what was it that compelled them to actually go? This was a big decision to leave their homes and work, so they must have been convinced it was going to bring meaning to them. They just had to see what this star was about. This  Sunday, we are going to be contemplating this story and taking communion. It seems fitting  for us to come and worship Jesus the King, remembering the life He gives us. Let's start the New Year off with a commitment to honor God before anything else. My prayers are  for all of us to know the Lord more in 2019. Hope to see you  Sunday.

- Pastor Colleen

"Though many kings of the Jews had been born and died, none of them did the Magi seek to adore. And so they who came from a distant foreign land to a kingdom that was entirely strange to them...But they had learnt that such a King was born that by adoring Him they might be sure of obtaining from Him the salvation which is of God."
- Saint Augustine

Music This Sunday

"I will build my life upon Your love - it is a firm foundation."
- Brett Younker (and others), from Build My Life

Happy New Year! My prayer is that we as a church family would start this new year on the foundation of God's love. Its always a great chance to hit the reset button and remember that our love flows to those around us when we understand that God truly loves us: let that be your starting point in all of your endeavors or new year's resolutions.

As the sermon will focus on how the Magi brought gifts of worship to a great King, let our time in worship through music be joyous this Sunday. Let's bring Him praise!

- Jake Elliott, Director of Worship

DID YOU KNOW?
We have an Emergency Heart Defibrillator in the main office at FMCSB, hanging on the back wall. This device, once powered on, gives audio step-by-step instructions so that anyone can use it should a heart failure occur on our campus.
It's good to be aware.
