January 4th, 2019

It's a new year and the start of a new message series at Mt. Horeb. This Sunday, we're launching Dear Church; this series will look at letters written by Paul to the newly formed, burgeoning churches of Christ-followers in the first century. We'll be studying these letters, looking at the many different things these churches were struggling with, asking questions about, succeeding in and studying the various encouragement, answers and direction Paul gives to each. As we dig deeper, we'll continue to recognize that these letters from Paul were intended for us just as much as for the early Church.

This week, we're focusing on Paul's letters to the Thessalonians. Pastor Nick is speaking in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services; Pastor Jeff is speaking in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services. This is going to be a great way for us to unite and commit to being better stewards of the Gospel in 2019, so don't miss this series!

The Compassion Experience

Coming to Mt. Horeb on January 18th-21st, this Experience is a landmark presentation visiting churches, schools, and other venues across the country. The experience immerses guests in the reality of daily life in poverty that millions of children face around the world. It brings visitors into cultures completely outside of their own. Most importantly, the Experience presents the blessing of hope as children are sponsored through Compassion's world-class child development program. When deployed in a parking lot, the structure allows guests to take an immersive tour through replicas of the homes, environments, and stories of two children who have been a part of Compassion's program. Each guest is equipped with an iPod Touch and headphones to guide them through the Experience. At the end of the tour, guests enter a World Impact Room where they can view photos and information about children of all ages who are waiting for sponsors. As God leads, guests have the opportunity to sponsor one of these precious children on the spot. Registration for the Experience is online at compassionexperience.com. To volunteer, click here.
