BOARD ELECTION BALLOTS ARE OUT!

Official ballots have been e-mailed (via an online tool called Survey Monkey) to the "Member of Record" listed in our database for each of our member businesses who are in good standing at this time. Per our bylaws, our Chamber holds annual elections for positions on our board of directors, and the current election is for three-year terms that begin in January 2019. We have eight (8) open board seats to fill.

We have seven (7) incumbents running for re-election: Ron Chriss, DTE Energy; Dr. Christine Johns, Utica Community Schools; Mike Kramer, Moceri & Co. PC; Angie Lommen, BAE Systems; Brad Lukas, Beaumont-Troy; Mark Vanderpool, City of Sterling Heights and John Winter, Dawn to Dusk Cleaning Services.

We have two others who would also like to run for election: Bryant Goodreau, Michigan Insurance Source and Amy Persyn, First State Bank.

If you haven't received a ballot, and you are the main contact for your company's Chamber membership, please contact Melanie Davis at 586.731.5400, x22.

To be counted, ballots must be submitted by Thursday, Nov. 15.

Thank you to the candidates for their willingness to serve, and thank you in advance to our membership for completing and submitting the ballots via Survey Monkey. If you have any questions, please contact the Chamber at 586.731.5400.

MEMBER TIP:
THE POWER OF PAIN
by Sandler Training
Think about your last purchase, why did you make the purchase?  Perhaps the first things that come to mind are, "It was on sale, so you saved money," "it will allow you to get things done faster," or possibly "it will improve your health."  These are logical reasons.  The reality is these are not the reasons you bought, it is how you justify the purchase.

The logical reasons you will often hear will typically revolve around money, efficiency, things that improve your product or add value, time, and things that will make you safer or healthier.

However, buyers purchase emotionally.

M-59 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATE FROM MDOT:

Last week, MDOT was able to continue making progress towards completing the reconstruction of M-59. Garfield is now open. This week, they plan to have the first two layers of HMA placed and will be preparing for the final lift.  Contractors will need to close lanes a little bit earlier than originally planned. This will help facilitate the completion of the paving as quickly as possible.  Access to businesses may be restricted temporarily. If you only have one entrance, contractors will do their best to do this work during non-business hours, as possible. If you have any special needs, like access for a cleaning company, please let them know, and they will allow them to get to your property. Contractors are working hard to complete the roadway as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.  Please give MDOT a call if you have any questions.
