The City will be conducting a citywide pedestrian safety study as part of its continuing efforts to improve traffic safety and reduce collisions involving pedestrians.

The study will analyze the City’s programs, practices, and policies relating to improving pedestrian safety to identify key strengths and opportunities to meet or exceed national best practices. Low cost countermeasures will be developed to reduce pedestrian-related collisions and improve traffic safety across the City.

The review of the City's traffic system is made possible through a $135,000 grant from the Systemic Safety Analysis Report Program (SSARP). The study is estimated to cost $150,000, of which the City will contribute $15,000.

The Moreno Valley Police Department partnered with Better Be Donuts at 12266 Perris Blvd. this week to host a Coffee with a Cop event.

Residents had the opportunity to talk with officers about their community and ask questions in a casual setting. Offices also showed residents their police vehicles and equipment.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Police departments across the country hold similar events as the law enforcement community works to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.

More than 120 seniors attended the Moreno Valley Senior Center's annual Texas BBQ and Chili Cook-Off.

Attendees enjoyed delicious barbecue hot off the grill and plenty of entertainment.

The popular event also featured doughnut eating and hula hoop contests.

The City of Moreno Valley held an introductory workshop on July 18 to teach residents how crime can be reduced through thoughtful development.

Residents heard from a representative from Security Design Concepts who explained Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED), which can be used to enhance our quality of life and prevent crime.

This approach can deter criminals by focusing on how our neighborhoods, shopping centers, parks and businesses are designed, built, maintained and used.

The men and women of the Moreno Valley Police Business Office helped more than 2,300 residents at the front counter and processed nearly 1,700 reports last month while answering countless phone calls.

The Moreno Valley Police Department Business Office is often the first or last contact a resident has with the Police Department. From releasing reports to acting as an officer liaison to assisting with a variety of requests, the staff in the Business Office is here to help.

The Moreno Valley Police Department Business Office is open Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
