Rally Day!
8:30 a.m. - All Church Family-Style Breakfast
10:00 a.m. - Worship
Worship begins with a large group photo being taken of the congregation at the front of the sanctuary for our new church directory - we want everyone of all ages, no matter how long you have been a part of the life of the church, to join in! The more, the merrier!

Childcare provided throughout worship for our youngest children.
Children in Kindergarten and up are encouraged to begin worship in our sanctuary and are invited to make use of our flexible Prayground space at the front of the room. Parents/caregivers and other adults are all welcome to join our youngest churchgoers up front, as well!

In the Midst of Change, God Can Still be Found
Rev. Kent Harrop, preaching
Scripture: I Kings 19: 9 - 18
(Elijah waits for God)

Come Explore Our NEW THEME for the 2018-2019 Program Year!
In The Midst Of Change,
God Can Still Be Found

Change happens. Growth involves change. Change can sometimes happen to us. It’s beyond our control, as when a nor’easter drops two feet of snow on us. Technology, politics, the constant flow of news, can almost make us feel as if we have whiplash from the relentless, uncontrollable change. But then there’s change that we embrace, change that we choose to create. We can strive to be positive agents of change in our world. As Gandhi once said, we can “be the change we wish to see in the world.” We can continue to strive to find new ways to bring the church out into the world, to be God’s agents of love and compassion. And as the youth fellowship song says, whether change comes upon us or we choose to make change, “In the midst of change, our God can still be found!”

(Special thanks to Peter Constantine for creating this year's theme logo!)

We’ll begin the festivities in Wilbur Hall with a delicious family-style breakfast, served by our youth groups (suggested donation of $10 goes toward various church youth fellowship programs). This is a sit-down breakfast, served at your table, so please try to arrive as close to 8:30 a.m. as possible, to ensure you are seated and able to be served! After the meal, we’ll enjoy games, art activities, glitter tattoos, and fun for all ages. And of course there will be a Rally Day gift! Finally, we’ll join together in worship.

Just before worship, we'll gather for an entire congregation photo to contribute to our new directory. We want our whole extended church family to be present. This is a great opportunity to reconnect and gather together. Come on FBC, let's rally!

Rally Day is the perfect day to invite a friend to join you at FBC!

Directory Photos

Excitement for the new Church Directory is running high as people are anticipating our photo shoot with Lifetouch September 13-16. Sign ups for appointments are going well. We have especially good news this week! We will be able to accept independent photographs of family groups/individuals! More information later about how to direct those photographs. Many thanks to Marty Lincoln, who has agreed to photograph our shut-ins. Our Rally Day program at 10:00 will begin with a large group photograph of the congregation gathered in front of the sanctuary, taken from the choir balcony. You won’t want to miss being a part of this. If you do not yet have a scheduled appointment for photography, please use the sign-up website  https://booknow-lifetouch.appointment-plus.com/ye4htk8m/ , see us before or after church in the narthex, or call Karen Popadic at 978-468-4126. Our Directory will be the most useful and the most historically significant if EVERYONE takes part.

Sale: Fri, Sept 21 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. &

September 23rd: When Rain Comes
Things don't always work out the way we want them to, or the way we think they will. Sometimes we don't even see it coming. We get hit with some form of pain out of nowhere leaving us feeling desperate and helpless. That's the way life is. Still, it makes us wonder how God can let these things happen to us. How God can just stand by and watch us suffer. Where is God when it really hurts? Maybe God is actually closer to us than we think. Maybe it's when we're in these situations, where everything seems to be falling apart that God gets an opportunity to remind us of how much we are truly loved.

September 30th: Experiencing Love
Hebrew Love Poems (erotic poetry in the Bible…who knew?). I love those shoes. Really? The same way I love my spouse? What's up with the word "love"? It doesn't have much meaning when we use it so loosely. Maybe we don't really get it. Maybe we don't understand what real love is. What it means to give yourself to someone else. We mistake things like friendship, commitment, or lust for love, but God wired us certain way to experience all that love was really meant to be. Not to hold us back or to make us miss out on way it's meant to be felt.

Ready? Set! Fellowship!!

Best Wishes to Alena in Her Next Adventure!

To the FBC Family: I had a wonderful experience working as your Communications Associate for a year and a half. Everyone I met was helpful and kind, and lived the very meaningful mission of the church. It was a pleasure to be part of something so beneficial to the local and wider community. Having secured a book deal with HarperCollins, I have reached a fortunate point in my career in which I must dedicate my time and attention to writing novels. Look for Mercy House, a story about a feminist nun who runs a women’s shelter in Bed-Stuy, which will be released early 2020. If my luck continues, you might see a version of the story on the small screen as well! Although I will no longer be acting as CA, I am leaving you in the very capable hands of Mary Powers (who you'll hear more about in the next Bulletin). And I won’t be disappearing; see you around the neighborhood! –Alena Dillon
