Moreno Valley Police Department Participates in Harvest Festival at
Local Elementary School
On October 20, 2017 the Moreno Valley Police Department joined Cloverdale Elementary School’s staff and volunteers for their annual Harvest Festival. 

This was a great evening for the kids to interact with police officers in a fun setting. Families also participated in fun-filled activities including face painting, group games and more.

The Harvest Festival was a huge success and proceeds from this event will be used to help Cloverdale Elementary students participate in their school field trips.

The Moreno Valley Police Department would like to thank all of the staff and families who participated in this special community event. 
Moreno Valley Public Library Hosts Veterans Coffee Event
The Moreno Valley Public Library will host Veterans Coffee, a special event where the community can show their appreciation for local veterans. This event will be held on Tuesday, November 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Library's Story Room. 

Veterans Coffee will give attendees and Library staff the opportunity to converse with the men and women who have selflessly served our nation.

Another important goal of this unique coffee event is to discover which library services, programs and events would be most beneficial to local veterans​.

Moreno Valley Utility Reduces Lighting Costs for Target Superstore
Moreno Valley's Target Superstore recently completed a major lighting retrofit project. This lighting project will provide energy savings of over 130,000 kilowatts per year, which translates to over $20,000 in annual savings on the store’s energy bill. 

The Moreno Valley Utility (MVU) provided over $12,000 in rebates to help the Target Superstore reduce energy usage and costs. Reducing commercial energy consumption is one more way that the City of Moreno Valley helps safeguard the environment.

This special retrofit project will also help to reduce Target Superstore's annual lighting maintenance costs. As part of Moreno Valley's concierge approach to business, MVU seeks out opportunities to assist local businesses. When businesses thrive in Moreno Valley, the entire community benefits.

Heacock Channel Project Reaches Groundbreaking Milestone
The Heacock Channel Project has reached its groundbreaking milestone.

The City of Moreno Valley is partnering with other agencies to improve to the existing earthen Channel to reduce flooding on residential, commercial, federal, public and privately owned properties.

The joint venture includes the March Joint Powers Authority, March Air Reserve Base and the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District.

The project includes construction of a fully concrete-lined channel from Cactus Avenue to the Perris Valley Storm Drain Lateral A Bridge. This will create improvements over a two-mile portion of the Heacock Channel. 
 
The Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District awarded the project construction contract to Sukut Construction, LLC in September 2017.

Construction will begin in November and the project is expected to take approximately one year to complete.
Pets of the Week
Each week the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter highlights a cat and a dog available for adoption in the hopes of finding them a forever home.

This week's Pets of the Week are Jan and Chuck.

Jan (#A479217) is a sweet four-year-old Pomeranian who needs a friend to show her the affection she deserves.

Chuck (#A479288) is a cool two-year-old domestic shorthair cat who is a big fan of love and attention.
