Extra! Extra! Read all About It!

We have new database software in the Church Office, called Realm. This is exciting for us and hopefully for you. We need you to help us help you. In order for you to access the new software for use of the Church Directory and giving (if you choose to give online) we need to have an accurate email address for you in the database. You can provide this by filling in the Connection Card on Sunday, which I am sure you already do in order to record your attendance. Located on the bottom of the Connection Cards given out every Sunday is a place for your name, address, phone and email information. Please fill this in no matter how many years you have been here. There will be a class offered on Wednesday, October 24immediately following Wednesday night dinner. This class will provide guidance on how to use the new software plus some new ways of giving effective January, 1, 2019.

Realm Class for Covenant Partners
Wednesday, October 24

Next Wednesday, October 24, there will be a class offered on Realm immediately following Wedneday Night Dinner. What exactly is Realm? It is the new software being used in the St. Giles office to record your attendance, your pledge, your contributions, and most importantly the Church Directory. This is your "go to" place to locate phone numbers and addresses of others in the congregation. You are able to access Realm by going to the St. Giles website. In addition to having access to information, effective January 2019 there will be some new ways of giving available to you.

Come and learn how to access Realm and new ways of giving.

On Wednesday, October 31 St. Giles will host a "Trunk or Treat" night for children/grandchildren of St. Giles members, as well as the neighborhood. We need 10 people with reasonably cleaned out TRUNKS and LOTS of candy. There will be a container outside of the church office where you can drop off the candy. If you can provide a TRUNK from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM please contact Patience Flynn at  pflynn@stgiles.org or sign up on the Connection Card.

Candy Collection for Trunk or Treat

LOTS & LOTS OF CANDY is needed for the Trunk or Treat event in the parking lot at St. Giles on October 31. Please bring bags of individually wrapped candy  and deposit in the bin outside the Church Office. Candy will be distributed among the trunks in the Side Parking Lot (off Tuckahoe), where St. Giles children, Children's Garden Preschool, and neighborhood kids will collect candy and treats in a safe environment. This is a community effort, hosted by St. Giles.

Blaze Sunday

On Sunday, September 30 police and volunteers went door to door in Highland Park, sounding out residents' concerns, while others made home repairs of the elderly and ailing residents.

It was a collaborative effort of nine churches, including St. Giles, led by Jo White, who is also chapter commander of the Guardian Angels.

Please take a moment to read the whole article, here.

Common Grounds Gallary
Now through October

Currently on exhibition paintings by the Thursday Painters, a group of ladies who have painted together at St. Giles for many years. Vera Prior was very active with this group and three of her paintings are on display. Most of the group learned the techniques of decorative painting in the early 90s from a local artist and teacher, Jean Galloway, and have continued to perfect their techniques and branch out in other media, including watercolor and oils. These paintings will be on display through October.
