We know that there are a lot of things that come up throughout the school year that are hard to be prepared for. Well... that is what we're here for!

We'll even help you prep for a sub so you can attend these fantastic sessions tailored just for new teachers like yourself.  
Fall Session:

  • Secondary (Fargo) : September 19, 2018
  • Elementary & Secondary (Jamestown) : September 20, 2018
  • Jamestown REGISTRATION CLOSES FRIDAY, SEPT. 7 - requires 10 participants!

Online & Check-In Sessions:
  • September 24, 2018 - March 23, 2019 Online
  • Check-in sessions TBD

Spring Session:
  • Elementary & Secondary (Jamestown) : March 26, 2019
  • Secondary (Fargo) : March 27, 2019
  • Elementary (Fargo) : March 28, 2019
** PLEASE NOTE: The Jamestown sessions have a required 10-participant minimum to host the training. If this minimum is not hit, registered participants will be contacted and asked to reschedule and attend the applicable Fargo session.
Beginning Teacher Sessions provide a face-to-face forum for discussing topics that arise from the teachers' day-to-day practices.

It provides professional growth, collegial dialogue, support and guidance. Key ideas include classroom management, state standards, assessment and responding to student needs.

The Beginning Teacher Network is funded through a grant provided by the North Dakota Teacher Support System (NDTSS).

FALL SESSION:
Session will focus on:
  • Practicing communication that will engage parents in the partnership of learning. (Including info on parent-teacher conferences)
  • Identify practices that will help to manage the learning and create a positive classroom environment.
  • Explore and plan for implementation of active learning strategies to increase student engagement.
ONLINE & CHECK-IN SESSIONS:
Online & Face-to-Face sessions will focus on:
  • Investigating the Keys to Quality Classroom Assessment.
  • Clear Purpose & Targets, Sound Design, Effective Communication, Student Engagement
  • Using clear learning targets to focus on instruction and assessment.
  • Creating quality assessments that match learning targets.
  • Using formative assessments to engage students in their own learning. 
SPRING SESSION:
Session will focus on:
  • Identifying learners' needs: analyzing the information provided by student work, pre-assessments and formative assessments.
  • Developing lessons: incorporating instructional strategies that differentiate the learning for all students.
  • Managing the classroom: creating an atmosphere that promotes learning for all.
