Happy New Year
The Art of Questioning:
a journaling practice eCourse
January 7 - 25

Journaling is a popular way to deepen spirituality, work out issues, find the courage to face ourselves, and the world ----  and especially at New Year's, to begin again. But like any practice, it takes a period of trial and error to find the techniques best suited to one's own particular way of processing. It takes dedicated effort to develop good journaling habits and it takes regular, focused attention to truly reap its benefits. That's where tools can help. Tools like this Monasteries of the Heart eCourse and JOURNAL, a new guided journal from Joan Chittister with prompts and activities to guide your reflection. In addition to the content to be delivered during this three-week eCourse, you will receive a $2.00 off coupon for the Joan
Chittister JOURNAL when you register. (JOURNAL is not required for the course)

A full description with a video by eCourse compiler Sister Linda Romey explaining the why and what of the course  here.

Enrichment Series
Climate Crisis and Humility:
Benedict's teaching as a guide
January 16

The climate crisis urgently demands that we reevaluate and shift our attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. Sister Anne McCarthy will present a fresh look at St. Benedict's 12 steps of humility that offers insights for deep transformation of consciousness and action. The culminating vision of Benedict's ancient spiritual path is of a whole, healthy human who bows in reverence and love for all of creation. This workshop will explore this ancient teaching as a guide for individuals and communities living a new relationship with a planet in crisis for today and into the future. Sister Anne has presented on this topic several times, most recently at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Toronto.

Fundraiser Golf Tournament
June 17

Golf! Volunteer! Sponsor! Donate! Your support of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie Charity Fundraiser Golf Tournament means as much to us as a hole-in-one means to a golfer! Why? Because a hole-in-one is something you remember and cherish. And your support of our community's 160-year presence in the Erie area is a sign of friendship that we will treasure forever. As Sisters of St. Benedict we live in community and pray and work together to help bring the reign of God to our suffering world. But we can't do all the good works that need to be done without generous support. So, we are coming to you to ask that you help us, that together we can continue to witness God's love and impact the pressing needs of our society.

More information including golfer registration, sponsorships and volunteer sign-up form is at www.eriebenedictines.org/golf

Date: June 17
Location: Lake Shore Country Club, Erie, PA

Spiritual Direction available

Spiritual Direction, sometimes referred to as spiritual guidance or spiritual friendship, is an on-going relationship in which one person (the directee), wanting to be attentive to his or her spiritual life, meets with another person (the director) on a regular basis, specifically for the purpose of becoming more attuned to God's presence in order to respond more fully to that presence in all of life. The primary focus of the session is the directee's relationship with God as it is reflected and challenged by all aspects of that person's life.

Guest Accommodations available
One of the greatest gifts monastics can offer is their monastery as a place of prayer and peace, community and care, welcome and hospitality. In doing so monastics take to heart what Benedict advocates: the monastery is a dwelling where guests are to be cherished and respected, where hearts overflow "with the inexpressible delight of love." -Prologue, Rule of Benedict
