Youth Opportunities

North Carolina State Fair

There are a variety of ways 4-H members can participate at the North Carolina State Fair!  
  • Please review the premium list and competition rules for each of the 4-H categories to gain more information as to how you can participate.
  • State Fair Entry Deadline: September 15th
Moore County Agricultural Fair
Moore County Agricultural Fair
The Moore County Fair is upon us! There are many ways you and your 4-H club can participate. Participants may enter a variety of livestock, flowers, field and garden crops, arts and crafts, and several categories of food. Participants can be youth and adults and you do not need to be in 4-H to participate.

Dates: September 25-29th

Moore County 4-H Livestock Circuit Shows
Youth ages 5-18 will compete against other youth from across the region at our upcoming shows. We could use a few volunteers, both youth and adults, to assist in helping the shows run smoothly. Please contact Kelly McCaskill, our Livestock Agent, to find out how you might be able to assist! The heifer and lamb show will be held Friday, October 5th and the goat show will be held Saturday, October 6th.

This event is free to attend and we welcome spectators, so feel free to come on by to learn a little bit about the livestock project.

2018 4-H National Youth Science Day Logo

4-H National Youth Science Day
T his October, 4-H and Google will launch an exciting National Youth Science Day challenge, Code Your World, inviting kids to get involved in computer science through hands-on learning.  Code Your World is a four-part challenge that teaches youth ages 8-12 to apply computer science to the world around them. Developed by Google and West Virginia University Extension Service, it includes a computer-based activity on Google's Computer Science First platform and three unplugged activities that bring coding to life through games and interaction.

Keep Moore County Beautiful is offering three $1,000 college scholarships to seniors in the four area high schools. Please go to your school counselor or scholarship advisor and to get an application.
