Did you know that 55.6% of seniors in Edmonton are women and that part-time work is more common among senior women? The most recent Vital Topic released as part of Edmonton Vital Signs focuses on Senior Women. The document provides a snapshot of information such as income, living arrangements, health and wellness, and engagement and social isolation.

Each One, Teach One (EOTO) workshops provide financial education to community members who are financially vulnerable and helps build their knowledge, skills and confidence to make the right financial decisions for themselves.

The workshops are delivered by trained professionals from financial institutions. EOTO workshops are run in partnership with community service organizations and can be designed for groups as small as seven people or as large as 20. Workshops are free and take 60 to 90 minutes to deliver, depending on the topic. Review the information sheet for details on the topics.

This presentation will provide an introduction to the role of Elders in Indigenous communities and Indigenous perspectives of health and end-of-life.

This year's theme - adaptive - has been developed to support nonprofit sector resiliency and responsiveness to change. Expert speakers and thought leaders will challenge perceptions, provide new skills, and build a shared understanding of how the nonprofit sector can become adaptive in the face of unpredictable times and challenges in securing resources.

This is a joint international conference of the North American and European Networks in Aging Studies hosted by the Trent Centre for Aging & Society. 

The conference invites researchers, writers, and scholars from all disciplines and at every career stage to share their diverse approaches to conventional fields of gerontology and critical aging studies. Organizers wish to encourage new insights into assumed styles of life and thought, imaginative reflections on the meanings and representations of aging, challenging perspectives from cross-cultural and global experience, and activist strategies to take back aging from those powers and practices that relegate it to the margins of social existence and citizenship. 

SEESA is searching for an experienced, reliable and task-oriented Home Supports Coordinator. This position is responsible for developing/delivering the Edmonton Seniors Home Supports Program. 

Responsibilities include developing and implementing a plan for providing excellent customer service, innovation in service delivery and communicating with community partners. This includes working with contracted companies and community groups, clubs and community leagues. Day-to-day operations could include office volunteer training and supervision, handling calls when volunteers are not available and/or there is a heavy work load and problem solving as required.

Quilling is an art form that involves the use of rolling, shaping and gluing strips of paper to create decorative designs. French and Italian nuns and monks used quilling to decorate book covers and religious items. In the 18th century, quilling became favored by European "ladies of leisure". Today it is becoming popular due to the simplicity of techniques and the low cost of materials. The first hour of the January 17 class will be a demonstration.
