Our theme
Our theme for the 2018-19 season is The American Revolution! Over 1,300 children from our 13 partner schools will be exploring some of the most iconic events that helped shape and define the ideals of our nation. The culminating event, We the People: Dancing through the Revolution, will highlight some of these events through original choreography, music, and art. The theme ties into the 4th grade social studies essential standards.

August
In August, our teachers participated in a training workshop using the award-winning teaching methodologies of the National Dance Institute (NDI) of New York. Led by NC AIA's Artistic Team, participants explored NDI's teaching techniques while getting a preview of the content for NC AIA's 2018-19 curricular theme, The American Revolution.

LEAP
On Saturday our LEAP team held its first rehearsal of the season at the Carolina Ballet Studios in Raleigh. LEAP team dancers, our NC AIA Ambassadors, have a full schedule ahead this year with performance opportunities happening throughout the season at venues all over the Triangle.

New Associate Artistic Director
After four years as the Artistic Director and over 12 years of working with children through NC Arts in Action, Alton Tisino is stepping down from his position to focus on furthering his education and pursuing his music. We will miss Alton, NC Arts in Acton will always be his home, and we wish him the best. Kathy Berberian has been promoted as the new Associate Artistic Director. Kathy has been a teaching artist with NC Arts in Action since 2009 and lives in north Durham.

On behalf of the children we serve, please consider a donation to NC Arts in Action. Help keep our children dancing in 13 schools across four counties!
