Retired? Considering retirement? Wondering about retirement?

This mini-retreat will help you reflect upon the dynamics of retirement as well as the gifts of this chapter in one's life.
We will focus, discuss and share our perceptions and attitudes towards retirement choices.. We will also consider the personal and spiritual dimensions of retirement as part of our on-going religious lives.

This mini-retreat will be led by Pastor Chuck Kindsvatter, retired from active parish ministry since 2004. Pastor Chuck is a graduate of the Cenacle Spiritual Direction Institute and has been active in Spiritual Directing for the past 12 years.

The Jerusalem Conference
As part of the  Room for Hope festival, The  Jerusalem Conference is a one-day event on  Thursday, October 11,  in Houston that brings together scholars, ecumenical theologians, and peace-doers around the topic - Jerusalem: What Makes for Peace? 

Join Bishop Michael Rinehart, Rev. Jim Winkler, President of National Council of Churches; Rev. Dr. Mae Cannon of Churches for Middle East Peace; Sojourners' Founder and President Jim Wallis; and Bright Stars of Bethlehem President, Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb for a timely exploration of Jerusalem as key to peace in the Middle East. Together, we will identify concrete steps and goals towards advancing the vision of an inclusive, diverse, and equitable Jerusalem.  Learn more and register

Ordination and Installation of Ariel Williams at Living Word, Katy
Ariel Williams has been called to Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy as the new associate pastor. A Service of Ordination and Installation for Ariel is scheduled for Sunday September 16th at 4pm.

Choir Workshop at Our Saviour's, College Station
Your choirs are invited to participate in the Our Saviour's Choir Workshop and Festival on Saturday, September 29, 9am

Join Our Saviour's in welcoming Music Professor Joey Martin from Texas State University in San Marcos who will lead the participating choirs in a workshop from 9am-3pm, then presenting a Festival performance at 4pm.

September Sunday Conversation on Creation
On Sunday, September 30, we welcome Jordan Fengel, Executive Director of STAR (State of Texas Alliance for Recycling).

The US has relied on China to process our mixed plastic and mixed paper recyclables for the last 20+ years. With China set to eliminate all imports of recyclable materials by 2020, Jordan will discuss what STAR is doing to turn the tide. He will explain how STAR sees this crisis more as a fantastic opportunity to build American processing and manufacturing markets that have been long needed.

Order ELCA World Hunger Advent Resources
We know school just started for most of you, but it is already time to start thinking about Advent. ELCA World Hunger resources are a wonderful way to prepare for and celebrate Christmas in the Advent season.

There is a new Advent study, updated Good Gifts catalog selections, Good Gifts ornaments for the tree that both represent and benefit the many ways the ELCA is working to combat hunger, an Advent calendar and a bulletin insert. However you practice Advent, there are wonderful resources available for congregations, individuals and families.

Always Being Made New: The Campaign for the ELCA  gives us the opportunity to expand our ministries among youth and young adults to cultivate young leaders, embrace a culture of diversity and inclusion, and build a robust network of support.

Lord of Life Lutheran Church is seeking a Worship Leader for our contemporary/praise worship service. The position is part-time, approximately 10-11 hours per week. We seek an individual with experience in contemporary worship, able to play and direct our worship band. This person will lead and teach music in a rehearsal setting, then lead the music in worship on Sunday mornings and needs to able to sing and play at least one instrument.  Learn More.
