I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that 2019 holds lots of new adventures for you!  One special adventure that we hope you will definitely consider is the All Class/All School Dreux American High School Reunion scheduled for April 5-7, 2019 in San Antonio, TX?

Note: Because we have a reunion coming up, I may send out a few more short deadline reminder emails than usual, so please bear with me on that and hopefully you will not unsubscribe or report the emails as "spam".  We want to make sure you are always in the loop for future newsletters.

By the way, we recently did a post card mailing for Reunion 2019.  If you did not receive a postcard that probably means I don't have your current postal address.  Some of you have forwarded your new address to me, but others may not have.  The mailings that we do every couple of years are really helpful in keeping our alumni database as current as possible.  If you have moved over the last several years and have not sent me your new address, it would be wonderful if you would send me your current information.

Featured in this Newsletter:

Update on Reunion 2019 - includes info on how to register/book hotel rooms, etc
Information on our featured Reunion Speaker - Bob Slay '65
Alumni Spotlight - Tom Carlucci '66
Alumni Recently Found - some recently found alumni
In Memoriam - List of former classmates/faculty who recently passed
Alumni Bio Survey - Coming Soon!
Volunteer Opportunities
January is a great time to pay 2019 dues and support our efforts

Hope to see you in San Antonio!

NEED BIOS!!

I NEED MORE BIOS!

Thank you to those who have sent in bios for the Alumni Spotlight and Faculty/Staff Spotlight feature of the Newsletter.  But I need MORE!  If you would  like to send in a bio on yourself, that would be great!  DON'T BE SHY!!  It can be as short or as long as you would like, but basically I am looking for the following information:

What you did after you left Dreux, i.e. schools attended, military
What you do/did for a living
Where all have you lived after Dreux
Tell us about your family, hobbies and any community involvement
Talk about any special memories you have from your time at Dreux
I would also need a "Now" head shot photo (jpg) of you as well.

I hope to hear from everybody!  Send your bios and "Now" photo to Vicki Key at VickiK3275@aol.com.

Watch for a ALUMNI SURVEY to be emailed out soon!

I will be sending out a survey soon that can perhaps be substituted for a bio.  It is an effort to collect fun facts about each of our alumni that can possibly be used in future newsletters and could even help us in finding more alumni.

GET INVOLVED!!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP?

Here are some possible volunteer opportunities:

Should there be a vacancy on the DAHS Alumni Association Board of Directors, would you be interested in serving on the Board at some point?  Time commitment is fairly minimal, mostly input through emails or conference calls, but could include helping with the reunion postcard mailings and coming to the reunions a day early to attend the board meeting.

Would you like to help during the 2019 Reunion in San Antonio, i.e. help with
duties such as working a shift at the registration desk, working a shift in hospitality set up/clean up, set up/decorate for dinner dance.

Would you like to help make phone calls to 1) get email addresses on those for whom we do not have email addresses or their email addresses are no longer valid or 2) follow up on leads to locate new alumni? This has been successful in the past, but we could always use more help!

Let us know if you are interested!

WE NEED AND APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT!

January is a great time to pay dues since they are based on a calendar year! Remember that you can pay dues by using your credit card if you prefer not to pay  by check!  Dues are $40/yr and you can pay for one year or multiple years.

Just visit our Dreux AHS website at www.dreuxalumni.org and click on the Dues/Donations button and you will see the Dues menu for PayPal.

If you prefer to pay by check, you can send your Dues payment to our Treasurer:

Jim Adams '66
188 Lexie Lane
Palmyra, VA 22963

Dues paying members will receive a copy of our current Dreux AHS Alumni Directory via email.

NOTE:  I am currently doing a major update to our Alumni Directory as a result of many returns from our postcard mailing.  Once that is completed, a current directory will be send to all dues paying members. So your patience is appreciated!

I have updated the Dreux website to reflect those that have already paid dues for 2019.  So if you aren't sure if you have paid for 2019, you can go to the Dues section of the website and check the list.

As always, we GREATLY appreciate any and all support! Your support is what keeps our  association going and helps fund the costs to find former classmates, maintain the database, website, newsletters, reunion costs, etc.  We can't do it without you!

UPDATING YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION

If your contact information has changed (i.e. email address, postal address, area code or telephone number) and you haven't notified me, please email that information to Vicki Key.  I want to be sure that your contact information is correct in the Dreux AHS Alumni Directory!

COME JOIN US ON FACEBOOK!

The Dreux American High School Group page on Facebook now has 576 members and is still growing.  It's been a lot of fun!  Former friends are reconnecting, uploading photos from Dreux, and having general discussions about the time spent at Dreux.  We also do New Find Alerts when we locate former classmates that have not yet been found as well as Sad News Alerts when we discover that a former classmate has passed.

I have the group as a closed group so that only those people associated with Dreux are involved.  If you are interested in joining us, just use the "request to join" feature on the Group Page or send me a friend request and I would be happy to add you!

If you are on Facebook and have not already joined the group, here is the link to our page so you can request to join:  Dreux American High School Group Page

Missed a prior Dreux AHS Newsletter?
You can view them on the Dreux website

In case you missed receiving any of the past Dreux AHS Newsletters for whatever reason, they are archived and available to view on our Dreux AHS website.  Just click on the link on the front page of the website (www.dreuxalumni.org) to access them.

PLEASE remember that you can always opt out of receiving the newsletter if you would like, but PLEASE do not tag or report it as SPAM.  That really hurts our ability to continue to do these newsletters using Constant Contact and there are many people who enjoy getting them. We certainly hope you don't opt out, but it is certainly your choice.  I try not to overwhelm everybody with them, but keep in mind that just prior to Reunions, we may do them more than we normally do.  THANKS!

Dreux American High School was open from 1960-1967.  The first graduating class was 1961.  The school closed in January of 1967. We have a very active Alumni Association.  There h There have been 9 major reunions over the past 23 years, the last being held in May of 2017 in Charleston, SC.
