Our first quarter of the 2018-2019 school year is now officially in the books. As the teachers will be finalizing grades on Monday, October 15th, there will be no school for students. Report cards will be distributed on October 29th.

If you have yet to click on the weekly newsletter put out by our dynamic PTSA (left), please do so. They have several special events planned for the second half of the month and are still seeking help with a student favorite - the Halloween Dance and Haunted House.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone back on campus Tuesday, October 16th for a successful on-time start to the second quarter.

Have a wonderful week!

National Junior Honor Society Campus Clean Up

National Junior Honor Society is a service club. Students in NJHS are committed to helping their school and community by sharing their strengths and working on service projects of their choice. The LNMS chapter has started their monthly campus clean up; beautifying the campus by picking up trash and fixing garden beds and fences around the school.

* NJHS will soon be participating in the Lake Nona Relay For Life on November 3rd. Come on out to the high school from 1pm-10pm to support the American Cancer Society!

Knight Drama
Drama with Ms. Smith

Ms. Lauren Smith had her Drama students to practice their pantomime skills by participating in Silent Day. Pantomime is the art of acting without words. It is often called "the art of silence." The art of pantomime is basic to your training as an actor, because a character is portrayed through gestures, facial expressions, and movement - the first things an audience notices.

Knight HERO
O'moj Reeves, 7th Grade. Congratulations!

O'moj Reeves is the 7th grade HERO of the month for receiving the most positive points. Ms. Butler-Wilson, 7th grade dean, presents the HERO honor.

Monday's Motivational Moment
LNMS remembers the 243rd birthday of the United States Navy (Oct. 13, 1775)

Many of our LNMS community have had members of their families serve in the past or are serving today in the U.S. Navy. This past weekend was the Navy's official birthday. Founded on October 13, 1775, the Continental Navy was created by Congress to defend and protect American coastal communities and colonies from British attacks, and to disrupt British communications. LNMS thanks all current and former Navy personnel for their service.

The U.S. Navy celebrates its 243rd birthday with a cake at Phelps Chow Hall, aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., Oct. 11, 2018.

The U.S. Navy never closes operating 24/7 for the good of all U.S. citizens. Pictured above a Petty Officer greets his 7-year-old son after returning from a long deployment aboard the fast-attack submarine, USS Virginia.
